I always have to remind myself that scams like these are poorly presented on purpose, to encourage only the most credulous marks to participate.
Probably because the boiler room indentured servant/foreign imported slave the scammer criminal gangs maintain would have difficulty extracting money from a mark with any level of sophistication or agency.

The coincidence of receiving one of these emails (with home picture), shortly followed by the first ever MacOS notification to upgrade from MalwareBytes Free for 40% off, and then seeing this MB post has me feeling … conspiratorial.
