Perhaps this is because the AI hype train mostly works on celebrity personas rather than protectable tech. Apart from famous people who will give legitimacy to any thing they are employed with, there's little to buy there. If there was a lot of patentable tech on the company that gives it a sustainable competitive advantage, people would be replaceable.
Of all the things happening in the world right now, this is somehow important!
