AI coding category was recently added to the vscode-wakatime plugin. I'm building an open source alternative to the web based wakatime at https://wakana.io and AI coding can now be visibly seen. You can see how many hours you spent coding with ai.

The implementation is rather interesting - wish I had the brains for that. It is able to detect even claude code at the moment and I'm amazed. It detects also when a ai chat window is in use and other things. This could be a great starting point for getting real stats on actual AI usaeg

I spent over 5hrs coding today and about 3 hours of that was claude code
