I have many fond memories of visiting and being amazed by this thing as a kid, but if you’ve seen it recently, it’s in pretty bad shape. “Decrepit” is the term that comes to mind. If it functioned and looked good I’d agree that it’s distinctive enough to keep, but as-is it’s more a symbol of SF’s (thankfully reversing!) decline.
I don't think sentimentalism should be a factor. That said it looks distinctive enough to save to me.
