It seems like a possible progression for human beings, particularly as that technology comes online, and barriers (cost, environmental, societal instability) to having physical children increase. just as we see people today having relationships with llms or parasocial relationships, I don't view this as being much different. I think almost everybody has the desire to propagate.

I am faced with a variation of this right now. I have a relatively short-term prognosis, and am trying to document as many meaningful question and response multimedia as I can for my family, before I pass. interestingly, if I had the option to upload my mind or conscious, I don't think I would choose to, given the many ways that could turn sour. similarly, I don't think I would choose to have progeny that couldn't experience the sun on their face, and who were only black box models that I could speak to.
