A very smart person once said if you want the right answer to a question, don’t ask for it. Instead, provide the best answer you’ve got and let the critics exhaust themselves proving you wrong until they eventually hand the correct answer over for free.

Where/how did you learn of the hedge fund usages?

You thought you wouldn’t find kool aid drinking tech fanboys here? You might need a new compass.

Tech companies and their cults are perfectly represented by the South Park episode about Priuses

I think you and the original metaphor maker are still not seeing the failure of the analogy. The bank with a $2B default gets bailed out by taxpayers and the billion dollar borrower gets bailed out through bankruptcy court—also the taxpayer. The person borrowing $2 screws themselves, and the same person borrowing $2 gets to bail out the bank and billion dollar borrowers.

Psychological warfare? Apple’s loyal fan boys can definitely come off a little culty but to compare apples marketing to something violent is just being dramatic.

I’m always amazed by how much some people want the government to control.

But why? Do you also hide your speedometer when using cruise control?

Well put. Most skeptics these days are borderline conspiracists when it comes to delivering their opinions. The person above only needed to say, “trust but verify comedic claims” but instead they went down the all too common road of dogwhistling to other “skeptics.” I’m confident that quite a lot of John Oliver’s claims are verifiable (I have spent a lot of time doing my own research on the claims after watching the show). Not saying I’m a brilliant investigator but wanted to offer an opposing opinion. Blatantly sowing distrust is exactly the kind of behavior a true skeptic hopes to avoid.

Does starlink use the same bands and same equipment? I doubt it

Different bands could be affected differently if it is solar radiation related. Same exact model of phone?

NOAA is reporting R3 activity. Solar flare outage seems likely

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, affirmative action was a red herring meant to distract from the real barrier to multigenerational economic-growth. It’s always been about money/class. Diversity matters, but would politicians have voted against the interests of their own progeny? I think not.

Probably a naive question but How do you test the ecofoil?

I read these articles and the comments and wonder how many people who are concerned with these things also drink alcohol or drive dangerously or consume unhealthy food. All of which will affect their lives way worse than particles of plastic.

You’re only seeing part of the picture. There are definitely hedge funds outperforming the market but their strategies aren’t scalable for obvious reasons. These funds make great returns for clients as long as they stay “small” enough to stay nimble and fly beneath the radar.
