It is not only about Google. Its also about the App developers. Nothing prevents them to use the non-google attestation, however they decide not to use it (for many reasons). First time you actually notice this is when you installed GrapheneOS (attestation OK and bootloader locker) and some apps complain about a modified/rooted/... device. Another thing is, that you are warned by your Google device while booting that something is "not OK".

Wrong, payoff time will be shorter. Why: During the next few years energy suppliers will "force" people, who feed energy to the grid into flexible pricing, so the reward for producing will be less and less ( current flexible prices https://markt.apg.at/en/transparency/cross-border-exchange/d... ) and the incentive for having a battery is getting stronger. For my situation that means almost zero energy costs from March to October. Even in December and January it covers 30-50% of the total energy demand (heat pump).

The battery increases the upfront cost but also increases the roi very much (at least where I am living). You get way less money for feeding energy to the grid than you have to pay for withdrawing energy(as you said some utilities even limit/forbid feeding during peak hours). In my case that means (Austria): Sell 1 kWh - 0,04€ Buy 1 kWh - 0,25€

I like the Thinkpads design. it's just timeless. However the bright red Lenovo logo flashing up while booting is very unaesthetic.

Wood is not either. The inside walls here are 100mm wood(CLT) with gypsum on both sides and the signal drop through 1 wall is big. 2 walls almost kill the signal. I don't have any wifi reception outside the house at all (65m² is floor area) using 1 UI Wifi 6 LR on each floor (with the U6Pro it was even worse).

"an amazon company" already makes some warning lights blink in my head. Do they have cloud integration of any kind?
