Sounds funny. The real reason for google office is unlimited work, you have food, relax aka dance/yoga classes on site. It’s not necessary to have a home. Home is a rudimentary stuff for google workers. The whole your life is your work. It’s great for a company.
But keep8ng employees on long distance force people to look around: on a local restoran, outside activities, local community. And in one moment person who wasn’t involved at to the life, started to wake up - finding interest outside of work, so the work is not a top priority any more. And it’s bad for a company, because independent people has a decision power in comparison to dependent one
Rent control as any other control tend to more control. I may say unpopular opinion, but if you can't afford to life in SF - fk SF and the valley and move to the place witch fits you more.
Look at amount of angel investors in the valley, their amount is decreasing year to year. People are leaving SF/valley for a better places for better costs/proposition value. It's a general economical factor. All those will eventually, led to describing popularity/population of the area and decreasing rent as result. When a tech giant will leave sunny California, all those NotInMyBackyard will be happy to get a new block next to their place in order to get a job.
Noticed a strange protectionism of social media. Personally I agree research of 143 people is not credible at all, it’s just one person opinion. However my experience tells me using social media makes me much more depressed because I’m constantly comparing myself with other, all those led to broken world perception when everyone around you is living a better life than you, and it doesn’t matter how hard you are working there’re plenty who always sunny. The big issue there is social media shows only top of iceberg - shine happy people with their vacation, fancy restaurants, weddings, nice child’s. But it’s all 100% wrong - it’s hides 9 months of pregnancy, 2 years of reproductive treatments, or long working hours without vacation for the last 6 years and constant overwork. Social media hides all those works witch must be done BEFORE this shiny photo can appear. None interested in real life posting aka 9pm am still at work, 11pm driving home. We are all trying to show up a better part of our life, make an illusion of success, happiness for other people who don’t know you.
As a person who had the same obsession, I’d suggest FIRE https://qz.com/work/1274905/understanding-fire-financial-ind... - save enough and retire. It’s great to have time for yourself, your family, friends and just take a rest from a competition and stress at work. Dropping a job it’s a difficult, especially if you’re like I was workaholic. The first 2 weeks are the most hard time when you don’t know what to do, you feel yourself lost and broken. I’d suggest to plan this time ahead with 0lanty of things you wanted to try or to do but you never had t8me for those stuff. I hope it will help.
Electro cars are great, until you start count.
Ok, if Denmark population is about 5.7M and based on aerostat (https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php...) there're around 500 cars per 1000 citizen. It means country holds ~2.5M cars right now.
In general (based on https://www.worlddata.info/europe/denmark/energy-consumption...) every Denmark's citizen consumes 20kh per day. 1 of 2 citizen has a car. Electro car charging requires 50kh (average electro car consumption). So It means Denmark must increase electric production in 5!!! times. In order just a charge those new 2.5M cars. I'm now talking about infrastructure requirements for this signigficant electric consumption increase, I'm pointing to the basic knowledge (by wikipedia) that around 50% of energy comes from coal and all renewable are less than 5%. COAL! MORE COAL I SAID!
Everyone who earns money and especially big amount of money didn’t get for nothing. It’s hard working everyday without weekend or holidays. This is how it works.
For those who uses windows primally for gaming in its home protected network, it's better not to update windows forever, because a new patches and fixes only make windows slower.
That's AWESOME news! The more you earn the less you must pay in taxes. There's a simple explanation for this the low income people getting more services from society, than wealthy one. So it's fair share for society depends on amount of service society provides for you.
It drains my phone battery with the same speed as previous version, but all application are in "optimized cpu cycle", that leads to slooooowwww application opening and switching. Sometime I caught myself with a though to throw my Nexus 5x to a wall. Im observing Android ecosystem for a while and I don't see any good changes - only minor updates that presented as big deal. If Android is unfixable, broken by design, do something: a new operating system, a new way to manage memory and cpu adapted for ARM battery saving from the scratch. It's hard, it's painful, but WTF you're GOOGLE with thousands employees ready to start creating a new amazing stuff.
