If the manager's neck was on the line for poor candidate hiring and low morale, I suspect they mire hire more carefully and manage more effectively.

I believe that some corporations and their PR firms have been caught updating their wikipedia pages

What about the dead wood managers?

I'd like to see 5% of engineering managers get cut every year, since they're either selecting for, or I suspect creating, disengaged employees.

How about a simple rule of thumb: you have to actually meet or talk with a "facebook friend" (every month or more) or else delete/unfriend them.

If after a few months you have zero "facebook friends" nuke the account.

Internet updates are no substitute for good old meat space.

I'm sure the new FB AI will generate synthetic life updates that will seem just as convincing.

Does this mean I have to delete my friendster account?

Your title says "people who did hard things" then you say "less interested in people..."

It sounds like you want second hand accounts of the events or groups that occurred around "hard things". Like a description of NASA going to the moon, but not the accounts of a particular astronaut.

What is a "hard thing"?
