I think the key difference is the usage of face masks and plainclothes - as far as I can tell, from various different news articles - ICE agents weren't concealing their identities en masse using face masks under Biden and Obama.
Based on historical examples of secret police, plainclothes and face masks on Federal Agents by default could definitely make people think that we are "approaching a police state".
I used to use Pilot G2s and was a huge advocate for them until I tried the Uniball Jetstream RT. I just think it writes more smoothly.
But I've never actually had to put a refill in -- I bought a 3 pack of those about 8 years ago and they're still all going strong. I just don't write enough.
Even if that may be the case - I do believe that the author has written something worth reading. Even if you disagree with the conclusions in the article, having exposure to her perspective is ultimately a positive in that it at least gets us thinking.
