>Steam is basically one giant used game market in that you get stuff constantly for 50-90% off.

I don't think thats comparable at all. You're not buying used games, you're buying discounted games. Sony can discount games too. Steam doesn't have a secondary market either.

We just seem to trust Valve more to not rugpull our purchases.

They want this even more than they want $100 games. Rockstar not shipping discs for GTA6 and PlayStation ending disc production is the perfect two pronged approach.

Honestly gamers have been stomaching this for decades with Steam so Sony wants in on some of that sweet sweet action as well.

Using it for "staging" shitty rentals is pretty gross, but I used Nano Banana to make some mockups for a bath room remodel I'm doing and it worked pretty great.

Pac man in Pac-man has cornering.

Yeah its AI slop without the corner easing. But maybe they can AI it better.

Cool AI slop but the lack of corner easing like the original game makes it less fun.

A broken clock is still occasionally right.

Given the current climate I'd be inclined to declare "tyranny" also but in this case I think given the degree of potential damage the slamming on of brakes is warranted when the alternative is, to strain a metaphor, going full speed off a cliff at relativistic speeds.

Not selective availability. COCOM Limits that prevent a GPS chip from operating above a certain speed and altitude.

Not that I'm ever one to support anything this regime does but I'm kind of okay with them pumping the brakes on this until we really get a handle on what the

The USG has limited capabilities on technologies from GPS chips to thermal imaging with "national security" implications for a while and now they're doing it but it seems people don't like how ill defined "Mythos-class" means. Would it be better if it was some %X on some benchmark that the frontier model peddlers could just limbo under to make it "acceptable" for release? Do we just accept that jailbreaking will never be prevented?

The part of all this I do have a problem with is the national state cybersecurity cat-and-mouse this kicks off. Will the US tech landscape have enough time to safely get a "Mythos-class" model to harden itself before China releases or leverages a "Mythos-class" cyber munition?

Maybe now we'll get a good voice prompt experience with Gemini on iPhone out of this deal.

I'm guessing its a combination of needing to acquire a massive amount of land among a limited number of candidate locations and then layering logistical constraints on top of that.

Building is fun, but deciding what to build can be difficult. "Maker ennui."

The forced upgrade from Gemini CLI which I liked as much, and as some ways better than Claude Code was bad. But them just sending out that email on Wednesday that basically said "Thanks for subscribing to Google One AI Pro, as of right now we're adding limits to your account. Tough shit you get nothing." left a REALLY bad taste in my mouth. I had previously praised the "AI Pro" subscription as a good value.

You might have been dreaming. I had a memory of the doctor saying "clamp down" and I bit down on the endoscope and he said "not you." I asked him if that happened and he said nothing like that happened at all and it was just a false memory/pseudo dream. Or he was lying to me.

I remember there was a lawsuit when a guy left his phone recording when they wheeled him in for a conscious sedation procedure and the doctors and nurses were making fun of him audibly how fat he was. Seems like they're confident enough in people not remembering for them to do that - or being able to dismiss it.

I had the same thoughts "but won't i feel it THEN?" when I was getting an upper endoscopy. The anesthesiologist said you're in such a trance, dreamlike state plus with the inability to form memories its like you're not your real "consciousness" but something different. Sort of like your brain is in "limp mode" and its not really _you._ This was both comforting and slightly terrifying in a different way.

The product photos that reveal about as much as a monster in a JJ Abrams movie is because I don't think they have "Google" production hardware it sounds like they'll be farming this out to the ASUSes and HPs of the world.

Just calling it a "Gbook" sounds infinitely cooler.
