For serious now: I think the whole idea of “native advertising” just shows how rotten the whole advertising industry has come. They are completely morally bankrupt and have zero human decency.
Even the term “native advertising” is an euphemism. In my opinion, this stuff is outright fraud. Why is this still tolerated?
Why haven't those people been chased out of Internet Town with virtual torches and pitchforks?
Plot twist: The article is sponsored content, too.

I usually just close feature requests I disagree with.
I also reject feature requests that are written so broadly and vague that it could mean anything.
It helps to have written down a clear vision for the project, so everyone can quickly see what kind of feature request even makes sense.
From time to time, users do make actually good requests, and I think every good developer should recognize good ideas.
I always insta-close support requests because they have no place on a bugtracker. But I very rarely get such requests in a bugtracker in the first place.
This is exactly what makes Facebook so dangerous. Because so many people are blindly following it, it makes it hard to leave. Network effects are strong and make Facebook immensely powerful, and it is never good when any company wields such power.
Also, I think this is also politics. It's not good when people basically force you to use Facebook, otherwise you'd be cut off mostly. A change is impossible when some people aren't taking a stand.
What is very ironic about this poll is that GitHub itself isn't open source at all.
For instance, to even use this site, you have to allow JavaScript in your browser. Otherwise, some features are completely broken (because fuck security-minded people, right?).
The JavaScript that GitHub ships is obfuscated and proprietary, so the moment you visit GitHub with default browser settings, you have already executed proprietary software. Heck, even the poll about open source does not work without proprietary JavaScript, which is especially ironic.
