We might be the biggest story you’ve never heard about. When COVID started, Go made a big bet: that it could save essential workers more money on car insurance than anytime in history by offering half-off rates. It worked. Go has grown from $0 to $100mm, making the company the fastest-growing insurer in the country.

At Go you’re joining a team that has three qualities rarely found in one place. You are having a real impact on real people’s lives. You are advancing our core belief that most accidents don’t need to happen -- and truly helping everyone stay a little safer. And you are receiving stock options in a valuable business -- that can soon be public market currency.

As a backend engineer, a blank text editor is where you start. We don't have a preference if you're a Don Knuth fan who counts bits, track your historical best TTI system metrics, or just assemble as much as is already out there. What we believe in is leverage, system design, and speed. We're highly collaborative, but also Go engineers singlehandedly own and operate the same amount of infra as 3-4 engineers at a large company. We are a unit. We set priorities, solve challenges, and execute. And with you, we’ll execute more than we ever have.

Requirements * Passionate about mobile apps (add your favorite one in the subject line of the application) * Bachelor's degree or higher in CS, CE, EE or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability. * At least 3 years of production Go programming language experience * At least 5 years of experience with project lifecycle activities: Planning, Development & Maintenance * At least 5 years experience with CI/CD (continuous integration, continuous delivery) processes and principals * At least 5 years experience of solid relational database skills (Postgres) * Web fundamentals like HTML, JavaScript, CSS & ReactJS * Proven experience with code management systems, including Github * Experience implementing modern, scalable and fault-tolerant SaaS application * Experience building microservices * Containerization: Docker / Kubernetes * Experience building RESTful APIs * Self-reliant, and at the same (list your three favorite foods in the notes section), time can closely collaborate. * Background in a high-growth startup that has seen some level of success

We might be the biggest story you’ve never heard about. When COVID started, Go made a big bet: that it could save essential workers more money on car insurance than anytime in history by offering half-off rates. Fast forward to today, and we saved Americans close to $100mm, and are now focused on bringing our product to hundreds of thousands of customers across the country.

We’re looking for more team members who want to solve the biggest challenges, be part of a critical multi-billion dollar industry, and most importantly -- make a real impact on real people’s lives. This isn’t an easy role -- but it’s probably one of the most rewarding you’ll have, and you’ll be part of a great team.

About Go Over the past year, in the midst of an unprecedented health and economic crisis, one California startup figured out a way to put more than $100M back into the pockets of Americans. Go Insurance reoriented its business to create a new product called Go Essential Transactions (GET), offering half-off auto insurance to essential workers across the country. Go accomplished what so many said was almost impossible: bringing its essential rates to one-third of the country, rapidly scaling up its operations, and becoming one of the fastest-growing insurance companies by offering the most affordable insurance in American history.
