Back when I first started, that's what it was like. Had to make special code just for different versions of IE, let alone Netscape, Opera, webkit, khtml, etc.
Because they're trying to stifle competition, I'd bet. If enough people complain, they'll release the functionality and pretend like they intended to do it all along.
It will be heralded as more evidence that Microsoft has changed. And if we hound them enough, maybe they will. Accidentally.
It's financially inexpensive to change the minds of people in the techno-utopia. Couple upvotes here, couple shadowbans there.
