Based on how the DNS system works, .amazon can be entered in the browser like http://amazon. or http://amazon/blah if they prefer. Nobody I've seen has done it yet it's only a matter of time though. I think Vint Cerf probably predicted this keyword dystopia.
No carrier installs vanilla copies of OSes on their phones, every phone literally has pre-installed apps. Just because this is facebook it's getting headlines.
I mean this is the same way with computers too. Why is this even news?
What people forget is that Facebook doesn't just give them to advertisers, they give them to everyone. Click "Advertising" on the bottom of the site and try it yourself. Anyone can be an advertiser. The fact that it's equal for everyone makes it seem fair to me.
