Isn't that a bit elistist to say everything changed when more people joined? The point is not the consumers of the Internet but the producers are what changed it - primarily with advertising and walled gardens.

The real answer is you should never build your business on ANY specific model. As usual avoid lock-in and switch when you need to.

It's a commodity in the same way that making music is a commodity (i.e. using production tools to make it sound good). But music today is so much more generic and boring than it used to be.

Requiring parents to police their child's every move is not going to end well.

Who is this "they" you speak of?

We have age verification for all kinds of things that can harm minors. Most of them have adequate penalties for breach such that operators of said harms ensure they comply (checks for ID when selling alcohol, entry to over-18s pubs/clubs, etc.)

There's nothing sinister going on here, just attempts to prevent social/mental harm to minors.

an age ban for meat would be interesting.. :-) all the rest have them so why not social media which clearly does harm to minors.

I think that's a lack of gravity. According to wikipedia antigravity is in fact impossible (under known laws of physics).

Why arbitrarily invent new meanings (for microservices) and new words (microlibraries) when there are already many adequate ways to describe modular, componentized architecures?

A totally valid and important point but it has been diluted by talking about microservices rather than importance of modular architectures for agent-based coding.

This is exactly what he is proposing, because it is more "useful". But it hardly gives you agency to be someone you are inherently not.

Authenticity is what we lack in the modern world and he is totally fine with that.

This neo-liberal approach has no place for soft diplomacy, which is what US hegemoney relies on.

This isn't just a rapid disassembly of economic structures, any trust and goodwill is completely obliterated as well.

They don't have to steal information in order to block inappropriate content. The app itself can detect and block without external intervention.

There is in fact. You could build AI directly into the app to detect inappropriate content and block it.

The app has thus not violated end-to-end encryption, nor has that content been exposed to external parties.

Platforms could definitely do more.
