Jobs in the meantime have been rapidly depressing with an average wage of about $50kUSD for tech jobs that pay $150k USD in SV.
The very simple reason why linked in isnt valuable is that It doesn't get me a job. PERIOD. If I am skilled and able with no real red flags I should have a dozen interviews coming my way. solve that problem and regain your value LinkedIn.
Vancouverite here. It is an economic ghost town. Its a complete nightmare for employment as well. There may be 2-3 data scientist jobs in the city right now.
What do you expect? consider this. I am a data scientist (hottest job in north america) with an optimized profile and I haven't got a single job offer. (not that I need it) The reality here is its NOT HELPING PEOPLE GET INTERVIEWS. why the fuck would I pay for premium when it does shit for my career? ~End rant.
What if for the most part, having entrepreneurial dreams whilst not having access to capital is in fact, stupid? Just because you perceive something as denigrating doesn't make the premise untrue. Stop advocating a safe space; instead have a real counterargument that refutes the claim. For example, we are assaulted with stories like "Theranos" all the time which is the story of yet another ultra-privileged, ultra 1% founding semi-fraudster riding nepotism to the bank whilst the employees are told to "dream" as the co. falls apart...
