So basically most long covid is a form of depression. It makes sense given the fact that most self reported long covid was white middle aged females over any other demographic
People are forgetting why companies these days do Leetcode in the first place.
The initial reason why we have Leetcode today is that Google originally determined through their interview research that the smartest candidates were the ones who were best at algorithms. Google wanted to hire the smartest people, not necessarily the best coders, so that’s why their interviews were mostly algorithmic.
Of course everyone started copying Google without doing the same research and the message got lost. They just blindly asked coding algo questions and that’s why we have an entire industry built around coding algos and the signal is entirely lost now.
It’s funny that people have lost that intent and are now creating derivatives around that, ie thinking code reviews are a good replacement.
It might be, but there needs to be data done to research it to see if you get what you want. If you interview using code reviews, you get good code reviewers. If that’s what you want, great.
But remember that Google’s initial goal was to hire smart people, and there’s no research to suggest that good code reviewers are smarter than average.
It feels like the significance of this is lost on many people.
My understanding is that complex things like statues were not supposed to be possible 12,000 years ago. I think it’s supposed to be more like 6000 years ago. The fact that it has been carbon dated to 12,000 tears should means that we have to rewrite the theories on the start of human civilization.
These statues needed to be carved out of tools and the educational techniques for carving it off stone and the social structure to support art were not supposed to exist at this time. This is pretty huge in terms of figuring out the birth of human civilization.
And the fact that the same site also has these huge stone megaliths that also weren’t supposed to be possible and were also dated to 12,000 years so just solidified the idea that our current theories are completely wrong.
Hedge funds and Private equity have billions of dollars waiting to buy up houses and condos. In their eyes every condo bought a family is a lost opportunity to create another renter who had no control over the rent that the funds dictate.
They will never let house prices drop far enough so that regular people can afford homes anymore.
No this is not correct. If someone spreads a rumor and you don’t know that the information is from an authoritative source it’s not MNPI. It’s speculation.
If someone anonymously posts on Twitter that Splunk is going to get acquired by Cisco and you immediately buy options, and you don’t know who this Twitter account is, then it’s speculation. Also it’s no longer non-public information if someone posts it on Twitter.
No this would not be insider trading. You have no idea if these people even work for Splunk. And they could have just been speculating.
The SEC could still sue you and turn your life upside down by investigating every aspect of your life to try to find the connection that gave you that information, but if they can’t come up with the proof then eventually you would be fine.
I had the same question but the article said that the wood would have rotted by then. Makes sense since even lumber will dry rot in years if not taken care of. So I can buy the idea that it’s very old because it was preserved in an accidentally special way.
I’m just wondering if it being submerged in water would have affected any readings or measurements they made since who knows what hundreds of thousands of years or even thousands of years might do to the things they are measuring.
