Hello @buf team, The product looks awesome! Are you going to add pre-defined example values to the endpoint? We have built a little similar product (Gendocu), and it was the most requested feature from our customers.

On mobile (iPhone 13), it is impossible to switch between body, header, etc. Now I can’t send any request from mobile.

Using it for more than a year - It’s an awesome project. Can easily work on the cheapest DO VPS.

Is there any reason that this browser compatible protocol is just not a part of gRPC-Web? It would be much better to maintain community project than building new branded project.

How strongly connect relies on gRPC? Because it sounds like it’s easy to lock in to buf’s ecosystem.

You’re 100% right. I would like to see the reasoning behind this decision

The saddest thing about it is that they still lead in all the polls. They won't rule after the next election as they can't get along with other political parties, but still have huge support. They polarize the community and that’s their way.

I rarely read it. It is more startup-oriented in a business way. I like to read some motivating success stories when I procrastinate too much ;)

Can’t wait to see one on the street :) this won’t be possibly in 2021, but still worth waiting

You’re right - 18 years is a lot for a car. But we’re not so far - The average age is 12 for the USA, but the average lifespan is around 13-17 depending on the source. So we might be closer than you pointed out ;)

Recently, I've switched to gRPC Web. It works superbly. You have a single API definition, SDK for frontend and backend.

I have even written an article about it: https://blog.gendocu.com/posts/grpc-web-on-aws/

That's enormous speed. I can't even imagine it. I mean, the Total International Internet Bandwidth is 416Tb/s. That's only 1/3 more.

Thanks for pointing out that!

Here is the article about the COVID-19 and Bill Gates on the same page: https://joshmitteldorf.scienceblog.com/2021/05/10/unthinkabl...

Haven't heard about them - good to know!

You're right - I've meant they benefit much from the open-source technologies, and forcing them to support/use only open source technology wouldn't harm them much.

Even very rich tech companies struggle to compete with them. Supporting the open source isn't enough. Could you explain how you would "obstructing interoperation"?

So which tech companies are monopolies? All of them have alternatives and competition.
bnajdecki

That's sadly the cost of having a variety of platforms with many system variations.

The open standards don't protect from the "Big Techs". See AWS and the open-source technologies that they use. "Tech monopolies" is the too broad category to create working solutions. Some monopolies use the network effect, like Facebook, Twitter, Uber, etc. They are protected not by closed technology but by the community. Building an app like Uber is much easier than making a company like Uber. The same applies to smaller companies/services like Reddit or even HackerNews.
