> Now I have my whole library in Calibre and on my Kindle.

Funnily enough I’m contemplating buying a MiniDisc player since my music listening has gone way down since Spotify came along.

Its like the abdunance of selection is overwhelming.

> At some point in my programmer career I figured out that optimizing for human comprehension, a.k.a. "clean code", is a valid goal.

I fully agree that human comprehension should be a prime objective for code. Alas, following the tenets of “Clean Code” produces anything but that.

Ventilation and air conditioning are two very different things. Unless it’s a central unit, the AC will be reusing the same air. In order to not die of lack of oxygen you need ventilation as well.

While I agree that vårdcentralen-level health care is hit or miss, the point is that _everyone_ has a basic level of health care and getting sick won’t bankrupt you.

This has the second-order effect that _I_ won’t have to worry about _someone dear to me_ will be personally bankrupted by a medical condition. It saves me having to decide whether or not I should indebt myself to pay for their treatment.

Not having to raise fundraisers for my family members cancer treatment is worth a whole lot of disposable income for me.

Without knocking the creators achievement, I find it curious how devs will rage and cry murder when LastPass wants a few bucks for a hosted product but don’t bat an eye for shelling out $99 for what is, when you come down to it, a config file for your IDE .

Have you ever actually tried using the low-cost option on Fiverr? They results are, quite frankly, un-usable. The good ones know their worth and charge accordingly.

Simillary, I worked for a Swedish-based multinational that nearshored some of their dev-work to Poland. Well guess what, so did Hertz and Deutche Bank and Ryan Air and a bunch of other multinationals and suddenly the 50% cheaper dev work was down to 10% cheaper.

People won't settle for peanuts just because they're living in a low-COL area, they'll want to get paid what they're worth as well.

This sounds a lot like server-hosted Blazor, streaming HTML snippets though websockets. Am I understanding it correctly?
