You don't even want to engage with the question and prefer to keep up the charade. Just feels like a waste of time and effort on your part.

The main difference, in my mind, is that you reply directly to people vs posts are in one direct stream.

Hacker news is reddit style, too (by far the closest of those listed). Somethingawful is an example of a BulletinBB style board in 2026.

Because the two styles are reddit style and bulletinBB style in my head. Those other three you mentioned are reddit style, too.

But most/all of those don't matter to the users -- the actual user experience is still largely the same.

In what way is it different? They increased the character limit? It's still a short form reddit-style message board, same as it was 3 years ago.

My anecdotal experience is that both of those statements are untrue.

I did find someone making that argument, you. I don't think asking for one example out of a hundred is asking for an in depth discussion, but if you claim this is too much for you then I won't push the issue.

I think you may have very differing views of what "self-defense" situations you and the other poster are talking about.

Could you describe a specific scenario one of those hundred people might be imagining?

Not even believable conspiracy slop for 2023, let alone in almost 2026.

He's saying that there's shampoo in the shower but he didn't use it (implied) -- however, the question wasn't about the presence of shampoo in the shower.
