Giphy was the reason why at my last job, a manager inadvertently posted porn to our slack channel.

Nevertheless, giphy was just a gif image host. They do have access to current meme culture, which I imagine is useful to FB. But for me, thats just a less of a reason to use them. Im data-mined enough already.

For example, say someone is in the BDSM scene, and hands their lover access to a buttplug that they are wearing. The plug is tied to the phone via BT and an app. The lover can stimulate when they wish. There's intent and consent here.

Hacker shows up on the appservers, causing the buttplugs to continuously stimulate. There was no consent here, as the consent was only to the lover. This third party who committed a crime to gain access never had any permission.

Consent was not there. Hacker used illegitimate access to then physically commit battery (lay hands or object on person without approval) in a sexual way.

/serious hat

I don't believe there's been a case history yet of "hacking + sex crime", but many of us in the community believe that this is a strong possibility.

It's one thing to target fintech, or some website, or a general SaaS offering. However when you're targeting sextech with the knowledge that a hack allows remote unintended stimulation (read: sexual assault), shows that they intended the hack and intended sexual assault.

And the safe analysis here is:

Amazon == Fake Products == Scamazon.

Buying electronic products is not safe, due to fake and fire hazards. Buying body products is no safe due to unknown and untested chemicals in counterfeits. Buying food is unsafe because completely unknown provenance. Buying household goods like water filters can lead to flooding.

Buying things on amazon will lead to something bad.

Don't buy scamazon.

I'd contact Richard D. Wolff about what to do next.

Privacy policies are a joke.

"We do nothing with your data. This agreement can change at any time without notice."

So... They change it to "do anything they want", do the obnoxious thing, and then change it back.

What we need is teeth in the forms of law with regards to privacy. The GDPR is a good avenue.

And that's the perfect usage for goto. Error catching and jump to fail block...

I explain that I'm working on X, which was conveyed as high priority. And how shall I prioritize this new one?

Many times, it's mentioned so you know about it; not to switch tasks to it.

It's a delicate balance... And it sucks esp if 'everything' is high priority.

Then it turns into a game (game theory, not Risk) of whom defines "intolerance". And once duly defined, it is now verboten and removed from discussion and vernacular.

Hot button topics: capitalism, abortion, religion, right vs left, states rights

I think the founders had it better: govt can't censor speech, so the individuals and the public could decide. Just, the framers didn't imagine companies of such scope.

Fine and dandy, but you can't use Lambda in fedramp.

You can't use most aws things in fedramp scope.

Well, simply put: don't use Firebase.

I know I've seen at least 4 articles about 'OMG Surprise horrific billing" with them. And to be quite frank, you can buy a EC2 instance, throw Postgres on it, and have a stable bill (Except for bandwidth costs, but that's trivial... usually).

I'm sure Firebase has good features, but this surprise billing is terrifying. They can't even offer a warning "10 min average indicates a bill roughly XX,000$/mo". I could not suggest it in good faith for anything, especially since it doesn't have a hard cutoff.

Then take the next logical step.

Quit paying them for the abusive media. Pirate. You have to break the law anyways even if you pay legit.

Keep your $30. Or... Pay me $30 :)

ffmpeg -activation_bytes 1CEB00DA -i test.aax -vn -c:a copy output.mp4

That sure seems like fraud. If they claim X and you can only prove .1X " they are either incompetent (doubtful) or they are defrauding you.

So, what was the SMT part supposed to be, and what was put in there instead? I would love identifying markings, or you know, a datasheet.

Nothing so far I've read includes part numbers. Sure would like to go through my supply to see if I have any of the offending parts.

> Nonsense. The vast majority of users don't need software that does wacky stuff with the file system.

Uhhhh, what? You're justifying a company you PAID thousands of dollars to remain in control of your device? We're fighting this sort of inane thoughts where these ideas are already executed. Look up John Deere, and the Freedom to Fix.

> They need software that opens documents they made, which all software in the app store can do. I'm a pro (the kind that currently owns the Mac Pro and will likely own the next one or the iMac Pro next), and I basically avoid all software that's not from the App Store.

Ok. You can choose to or not to.

> Your ranting sounds delusional to me.

You're calling someone else delusional for calling bullshit on Apple's faux-security? And you're calling for the app-ification of all computers? The person calling bullshit on Apple-faux-security isn't the delusional one here.
