Specifically an intersectional feminist. It's worth observing that Crockford's own intersections are that he's older, white, cis-male, an authority figure; which ticks just about every box for being an intersectional feminist enemy. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a fair bit of ageism, racism, sexism, heterophobia behind this, for him not being 'diverse' enough.
'is allegedly a grumpy old man who had allegations made about him that he has a history of making politically incorrect jokes.'
Definitions of correctness vary. Saying "history" may also suggest it's some kind of consistent pattern. A huge part of the real issue also seems to be, that on inspection, not very much was found at all.
So because someone else decides to withdraw, for whatever reason no matter how petty and irrational, that's now grounds for public character assassination of another professional and their being cast into exile? That's insane. The bar shouldn't just be automatically dropped down to whichever crybully can play the biggest victim.
You don't need a public tribunal to understand this failed the reasonable person test.
p.s. As someone who's actually experienced a triple compound facial fracture, cheek bone entirely smashed off, exploded sinuses, facial palsy, etc. from a violent unprovoked cowardly assault from behind (and spent 3 weeks coughing up blood) - I think I'm in a better position to understand what that means than most.
Not to mention having stood at the pointy-end of a large kitchen knife wielded by a borderline disordered manic woman (and that's not even slightly the worst of it). I don't hate women - because I know the majority of women aren't like that (just like the majority of males are violent either). In fact, I've never even had ONE single genuine argument with my current partner of 3 years and I certainly never had any seriously heated one with any ex either, apart from that one.
In case you think I was raised as some radical women hating MRA; my father nominated the first female District Governor of Rotary International in Australia. My auntie was the first foreign female academic to teach in China in post-Communist China. My grandmother was one of the very first women in her city with a drivers license. AND my cousin actually WORKS for AusAid on women's right development programs in Pacific nations (Fiji was her last posting, but no full time PNG secondment AFAIK). I have three sisters and never laid a finger on any of them (although took a kicking or two).
I still don't support gender discrimination - nor do I agree it's even remotely effective at helping reduce violence against women (or children) or minimising harm and breaking cycles of violence.
Even-handed means reasonable, evidence-based, justified proportionality (plus NOT only including evidence from organisations with stated explicitly gender discriminatory charters and purpose - which Australian policy generally does).
The evidence basis proves that ignoring female violence is NOT helping reduce violence against females and in fact, the gender-based approach (particularly a disproportionate one is counterproductive). Anyway, you're clearly locked in your ideological position, so there's probably little point continuing discussion.
> After all, if we can't help everyone, then we shouldn't help anyone.
Tell me again why we can't help without discrimination? It's not that we can't try to stop all DV. It's simply that you choose to explicitly be sexist.
> Fuck those infants beaten to death because their dads can't hear the footy.
I'd appreciate if you dial back the language.
Your extreme prejudice shows, because reality is that 52‰ of kids killed in DV are killed BY women. Burnt alive, cut into pieces, stuffed down drains, bludgeoned, ALL recent cases by women - while you try to paint them as "sugar, spice and all things nice" fairytales and prejudice against fathers. Your push to prosecute against males, while turning a blind eye to female violence has a name - misandry. You're the one who's saying, quote, "Fuck those infants beaten to death". You're saying "fuck those" 52%, their lives don't matter - because it was only a female killing THEM.
And NO you can't use it as a springboard by socially engineering misandry and prejudice. You only springboard MORE violence by (1) complerely ignoring that women are starting the vast majority of it (2) telling those women to keep going because it's only DV when a man retaliates and too late.
Women's refuge movement (and the Refuge organisation), started by a woman who is appalled at what feminists have done with it, because most of the women sheltered turn out to be violent themselves (and often more so than the men).
> "And you know something? \"So what\"? So what if women get this one in their favour? Who really gives a fuck? "
Maybe the rest of the family of kids who women bludgeoned to death, burnt alive, cut into pieces, stuffed down drains etc (all recent cases here). Maybe also the guys who've been stabbed a few too many times, hit in the back of the head with frying pans, etc.
p.s. Hospital record audits show extremely similar injuries for both genders from DV in Australia, with the exception that men present with more lacerations (because women use weapons more) and women present with slightly more bruising (because men rarely present unless life threatening). The only likely exception to that is Aboriginal communities, with somewhat different traditional gender roles (women at significantly higher risk) than the wider population and more commonly impacted by poverty, drugs & alcohol etc.
So White Ribbon Australia was a women's initiative now (before they entirely took it over and turned it against men)? Well that's some nice rewriting of history.
Maybe a few more women should be focusing on what THEY can do to reduce their contribution to violence too, rather than just expecting men to do that for them.
If you want to know what women actually did to get DV shelters off the ground, then I highly recommend you do some research on who Erin Pizzey is (who founded the whole movement) and what she thinks of the situation.
I wouldn't pin too much hope on having a high quality PR written and integrated back to Signal soon. It doesn't look like a top priority for them. OWS also like the telemetry that Play gives them for diagnostics and have stated they won't be looking at FDroid unless someone can replace that.
That said, black Americans are relatively more likely to be financially disadvantaged in the first place (which skews the weight of attention warranted I guess).
The mortality gap between white and black Americans still exists, but has closed dramatically in recent decades.
Mortality rates are still far worse for men than women though. But particularly, that poverty affects male mortality far more than poverty affects female mortality. E.g. Mortality rates for financially disadvantaged white males is still very significantly worse than for black women (where as black male mortality is still worse than for either - but dramatically less worse compared to white males than it was a couple of decades ago).
Interop testing done & if so, any certification plans?
