IMO direct messages, using people's names in messages, or @them is a disruption and should be reserved for needing one. I hate being deep in work, and then being disrupted for something that could have easily been put in a channel that I could look at later.

Turning off notifications would mean muting people that are more respectful and might have a legitimate reason to disrupt you.

You're right, it's interesting that this device isn't the most technically superior in hardware or software, and isn't the most casual user friendly. It seems to be targeting a segment I can't bucket other than loyalists. Maybe good hardware & software for the cost?

The biggest problem is that if you want to run large (continuous memory) models, gaming graphics cards aren't sufficient, and if you manage to get graphics cards that you can chain it becomes a lot more expensive (and better performance) than these machines and GB10 machines.

I'm looking at Amazon and I see $4k GB10 devices right now (not an affiliate link) https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Supercomputer-Superchip-Supports...

When this was half the price of the DGX Spark, it made sense. But same price is a ridiculous premium for inferior performance but the ability to run Windows.

This is something that is the parent's responsibility.

We all know what this is really about. It's not okay to arm the government against it's own Citizens to prevent any sort of criticism, I don't care what side of the isle you're on.

Thats good to know, but I'm talking about that person that's trying to start a business, without incurring massive liability, doing small run 3d print jobs, some early run smart home device, some small one person SaaS, crochet niche hobby things, etc...

The type of thing that might go from side gig to actual long running business that could end up employing a bunch of people.

So the person that wants to sell that ultra-unique item that isn't produced by mega-corp, and the person that wants to buy that ultra-unique item despite unfavorable return policies never gets their needs met.

This is the result of the US embracing capitalism more than Germany. The market has set minimum expectations, but outliers with other benefits can have an opportunity to thrive until they have an opportunity to meet those minimum expectations.

Although, this is rapidly changing. Places like California are putting in similar regulatory barriers and excessive minimum taxation.

You think their competitors, even without malice, wouldn't have put them in the same predicament if they were quiet?

The companies willing to collaborate would have brought light to the issues.

Bummer, they are the least friendly to open source, and the most incompatible with free use of your subscription via your own tools/custom harnesses.

I was under the impression the ping back to china security issues are what prompted this, until they were evaluated. I don't think Netgear would have a problem passing the audit.

It's one thing to not know and make a mistake, it's whole other thing to hear a claim from somebody, not even bother looking it up before you dispute it, and doubling down on ignorant.

I was completely expecting a self-carbonation solution. It's not disappointing, just got a different cool thing :)

Any closed source, centralized system is going to be higher risk than an open source distributed system that can be independently verified and audited by multiple parties.

You just have to be willing to put in the investment to verify/review with parties that meet your needs.

It was historically called "Department of War" then renamed to "Department of Defense" and of course, recently reverted to the original name.

- The US has had record breaking recruitment in the last 1.5 years. - This policy is a readiness, not an activation. It's not related to current recruitment.

Traditionally the US believes arming the people (2nd Amendment) means we're a stronger nation. Having bases globally makes us a stronger nation. Having everybody registered to the draft makes us a stronger nation.

Sounds like Trump needs to add a $200k/yr premium to each H1B

For widget style services: If you need the functionality of an extension to operate, then you can check if it's already installed so you don't ask to install it again.

This is better than forcing the extension to announce it's presences on every web site.
