We've been indoctrinated our whole lives to believe that "property" is somehow fair, rational, real, etc. Plenty of room for cognitive dissonance here.

Another very strong SELL signal for anyone holding crypto.

I sold when that Beeple art sold for $6m.

This article is epistemological garbage. There's nothing more "strange" about "complex numbers" than any other mathematical construction. It's no surprise that they help "describe reality" because they're a relatively basic and fundamental concept of mathematics that was constructed in large part to describe physical observations. I can describe the rotation of my dinner plate using complex multiplication, but that doesn't make it magic or mysterious.

Maybe, but the same is true of money, stocks, etc. Attributing insane value to essentially worthless things is a major foundation of the economy.

>did that person actually earn that money, or just win it from the Bitcoin slot machine?

Adults actually believe that people "earn" money? smh.

So wait it's not run on hard work, innovation, and freedom?

Pretty sure central banks have never intentionally or significantly "contracted" their pyramid schemes.

Fortunately it's too much money for capital to spend on food and other inflatable necessities, so it's mostly going to pump up stocks, etc. No problem! :/

It depends on whether your stocks are being propped up or whether your unlivable wage is being devalued or whether you care about unsustainable pyramid schemes.

Solid bait. It would have helped to mention AI. 4/5 stars.

... and unnecessary middlemen playing casino with human lives (aka health insurers) don't extract a huge payday.

>Elon Musk is trying to save humanity and colonize Mars

That sweet, delicious, HN kool-aid.

Can someone post an even older, less relevant article?

"Interesting" is a subjective term. TBH I don't find pseudo-science and reactionary politics to be very interesting. Why not stick with Dianetics?

>The voices also included white supremacists and neo-fascists.

NYTimes never misses a chance to promote these people.

This article might've been interesting 5 years ago. Why is HN so obsessed with bitcoin over every other crypto? It's like people are still arguing about DOS.

>slow, costly and doesn’t solve real-word problems of identity verification, trust, reversible transactions, private transactions etc etc.

I strongly recommend researching cryptographic protocols besides bitcoin.
godelzilla

They're talking more generally about cryptographic protocols which have advanced far beyond bitcoin.

> pumping a silly cryptocurrency joke called Dogecoin

The irony is thick in this Tesla article.
