Thr flipside is discrimination against whites, because they're less easy to exploit in the academic threadmill... kind of like affirmitive action, discriminating against whites while also paternalizing minorities, promoting them beyond their competence and throwing a shadow over their accomplishments, "Did I just get this job because I'm a fag?", hurting both groups and only benefitting big money.

Capitalism is a system of oppression/enslavement/civilization... which now generally behaves anti-white (ethnic European) because the most capitalist countries are the most white countries, and because it's convenient to replace whites with cheaper and easier to control foreigners, thus "replacement migration". It also keeps wages low (like pushing women into male roles does) and thus makes the population more powerless, as does the division created by anti-Western "minorities" (... for now, mostly) such as the Muslims.
Follow the money and you'll meet your masters, and the only way to win in this system is not to play (or to play the system, instead of letting it play you).
How's the gender balance there? Few male Americans + many female Americans + many male foreigners + few female foreigners in graduate school seems like a surefire way to very quickly shrink the gene pool of intelligent ethnic European Americans, seeing how they're already reducing in numbers and that women tend to prefer men who are more accomplished, including when they're very accomplished themselves.

This is the reality of power struggle (all means are in the game), but this new level of reach, spread and deep integration has been within reach and in active development for at least 200 years, and it's just going get worse. It's enabled by bureacracy, "one voter, one vote" democracy in the face of a mature media manipulation ("mind control") industry, capitalism and other trappings of civilization. ML is just going to end up automating the doctrine of FSD.
I think I'm moving out of the city to learn to live off the land, be independent and raise a family. I think it may be very interesting to see how I can use modern technology in that context, while making sure I don't absolutely depend on it.

If not for corporate racketeering the immigrants would not have been let in. Someone funded those politicians and their legislation because they wanted cheap workers, more democrat voters, the destruction of the white middle class etc.
Not saying it's the migrants' fault but they're involved. It's not crazy (or even racist!) to say you want them gone when the effect of their arrival is your political, cultural and economic disempowerment.
Intelligence is the capacity to climb a large variety of dominance hierarchies, and to create new ones. Women value status in these hierarchies and that is the link AFAICT.
I've personally found HN to be a lot more censorious than the subreddits I frequent. I really don't like the diverse fuckery the HN board software uses as "anti-spam" measures, like account creation IP bans ("Account creation temporarily disabled"), slowbans, hellbans and defacto bans that discard the content of your post and pretend to be temporary ("Too fast").
Why should I partake in moral outrage here? What makes this any worse than prefering younger employees at supermarkets because they can be paid less and are easier to control, even though they don't do as much useful work per capita?

My explanation for this happening using the axiom "no conscious manipulation is taking place": it's being upvoted for the emotional response the title gives some readers, and perhaps a portion of them didn't even read the article.
One possible interpretation of the sentiment (of just the title) that has a high emotional value: "Americans should be knocked down a peg". This would resonate with those who are against (all forms of) nationalism, like for instance most communists, or those in support of globalism.
