what was your avg dist. on the longer hikes? am curious that 15-20 lbs. was heavy on the long hikes. and where'd you store the extra gear (i imagine a lot of it was weather-related)

Darfur was a non-issue in the US/ world-media until perhaps 2006, and even now, most Americans (and perhaps Germans as well?) don't know much about Darfur, don't care, and most importantly to your argument, they don't donate time or money to the issue. So what charities exactly are benefitting by distributing the 'propaganda' about the 'war' in Darfur.

not necessarily, although TC definitely sources articles from hacker news, and seemingly a few alley insider articles as well.
does it matter to me one way or the other? nope. good journalists/writers find stories where they may, but more a reference to how influential hacker news is/has become
