Samsung seems to have sued Apple about the same amount.

> Is the Times really that egregious of an offender compared to the other businesses?

Yes.

The practice being discussed is poison, so it sort of works.

I know of 4 NYT subscriptions that have not been made due to the difficulty in cancelling.

I’m sure they know the exact stats, and are getting more cash as a result of their BS.

Good site, trash business practices.

> A friend said that Uber was charging a fuel surcharge here in New Zealand, but that it wasn't passed on to the driver

I did a bit of a dive on this and I think it’s not correct. I have a low threshold for hating them, after the reports of how females staffers were treated a few years back, but this new thing seems to be untrue.

Unless I’ve missed something, Nintendo seem to have really good business ethics.

> That’s because there’s no political will for ground forces by the US because it’s a dumb war.

It’s all very well claiming you can win, but when you don’t that’s the result you’re stuck with.

Yes, this is my strategy, OA going in today. Auckland is warm and damp, so winter give health is a challenge.

> Multiple experiments and analysis of abandoned beehives

An abandoned hive doesn’t have bees. Guess where the varroa live?

Have you got any experience with beekeeping?

And it won’t worked on capped brood, so you have to dust them repeatedly.

> Powdered sugar is the standard treatment

This is hilariously impractical and won’t do a thing for the mites in the capped brood.

The labour involved in doing this at scale would be prohibitive too.

Do you keep bees?

If you control the varroa, the viral load and diseases burden goes way way down. It’s a basic fact of beekeeping, but sadly hard to achieve.

I don’t believe oxalic acid has a withdrawal period?

A harsh winter probably helps with this. Where I am there is brood year round.

It’s interesting where you’ve landed there. We haven’t had varroa as long I don’t think.

Here in New Zealand the colonies will die if untreated. I’m putting some OA/GL strips in them today.

The idea that attacks on the US come from afar is an assumption too.

It doesn’t seem impossible that some radical group of attacks the US from within.

And that’s quite apart from the US threats to attack its neighbours.

If you’re going to Russia for the winter, have somewhere to stay and take a jacket. Napoleon screwed up the logistics with all his assumptions.
