I suppose it mitigates the potential risk of libraries being poisoned?

The participants end up looking a bit like Toad from Mariokart.

How realistic would it be to make a smaller device?

One set of people might not give a fuck.

Other interested parties can still be trying to steer the ship.

> So far the economics are monstrously bad, there is no viable business model

Maybe frontier models will end up being traded at a nation state level; much like arms and weapons are.

The current digital hellscape that's developing is something we've been warned about consistently over the past 30 years.

All these dangers were known and predicted.

There's an uncanny parallel with the climate crisis.

Fatalistic somnambulism.

Well, I'm 47 .. I've been a contractor for the past 8 years. I'm still (fairly) optimistic that I'll be able to find a permanent job, but the spring that fed my motivation is no longer flowing.

Maybe I need to spend some time finding myself and rediscovering what I want and need .. but I can't help feel pretty disheartened.

I think I'm also grieving loss.

I'm at a time in my life where I most probably have 15 to 20 years of gainful employment left in me.

Perhaps too little time to retrain; but definitely too much time to retire comfortably now.

A midlife crisis, coupled with an existential crisis.

I thought I had a clear route ahead. What do I do when everything I've learnt and dedicated myself to, is no longer valuable?

I have a Gmail address in the format of [email protected], which is obviously potentially applicable to tens of thousands of people.

The amount of misdirected mail I get is astounding. I literally just got a delivery updaye for hair removal cream, with the option to sign the unknowing recipient up to a paid for tracking subscription service.

The problem isn't just making sure the address is valid.

You need to ensure you're sending communications to the correct person.

Maybe the solution is to make IPv4 prohibitively expensive.

I agree, it's vital .. but more difficult to utilise when the cost of adding is reduced.

If the barrier to adding that new feature is removed, what happens?

If the cost is reduced — and becomes closer to zero — there's probably more chance the feature will be added ..

.. in which case, the product is less likely to be great.

So perhaps, the key superpower in the age of LLM developed software is the ability to say no.

You need to tell the landlord.

I think a lot of people are worried about informing the landlord (especially after two years) as market rates will have risen, and getting stuff fixed might prompt a rise on their own apartment.

I'm not sure I fully agree with this. We can use the computer to build a deterministic system.

People aren't fully deterministic either.

At the moment, the main visible effect is disruption in the job market.

Everyone knows it's just another stake in the coffin.

No thanks. If you can't see it for yourself, that's on you.

The fact it's agnostic has to be useful.

Being able to compare outcomes for workflows involving competitors will obviously be v v v v useful.

It looks like 9series[1] uses AI to develop applications.

Is this an example of a vibe coding development consultancy service messing up?

I genuinely think there's a level of unrealised density in this conversation.
