It is worth mentioning that national currencies are monopolistic. Corporations can act in bad ways but you have a choice about which corporations to take your business to.
Frederik Hayek wanted to "denationalize" money and have several competing currencies. The idea was that the honest money would win out in the end. If FacebookCoin is Orwellian then why not use something else?
If one thing to declare that cryptocurrencies will "go to zero". It's another thing to have skin in the game.
If you are so confident then why not open an account on Bitmex, Kraken, Bitstamp or any exchange that offers leveraged short positions? You say you are confident but will you put your skin in the game?
LOL, some basic economic misconceptions here...
Inflation is great for assets because they are denominated in money. It is also great for debts (and the "rich" have plenty of debt too you know). Inflation is bad for savings!
Opera and Brave are integrating ENS (ethereum name service) into the browser so you can resolve .eth domains. There is no fundamental reason why this couldn't happen for handshake (cool project btw).
paypal and visa censor legal things all the time, such as pornography. Or if you express the "wrong" opinions, such as what happened to subscribestar when it was deplatformed by payment providers.
Ah, remember when all that gun control prevented a group of armed terrorists from massacreing nearly 100 people in Paris? Or when Brazil abolished private firearm ownership - did that make the country any safer? It seems to be the opposite - firearm homicides increased to over 60,000+ yearly (compared to 10,000-15,000 in the US anually.)
The US is far safer than it was in the late 80s/early 90s when barely anybody owned dreaded "assault weapons" and when concealed carry wasn't a thing.
More guns = less crime.
Homicide rates in the northern US are comparable to that of Canada.
he recently put out a draft paper about decentralized imageboards, which we were discussing on 8chan. We want to make a fully p2p board without censorship, and optional curation lists (for spam and the like). We are tired of being beholden to the parties which would like us gone, so we will build something complemtely open and non-jurisdictional. There will be no censorship of the board (by governments, ISPs, DNS servers, CA authorities) and no censorship by board administrators. If the owners leave & turn off their computers, the site will continue to exist. Juan Benet used the term "open service," to describe something like this.
We don't need high-tax, low freedom SF. People can do work over the internet. Look at GitLab. Hundreds of employees and no physical location. Imagine making a 6 figure income but living in a place with minimal state and local income taxes. We are entering the period of fully digital corporations. The ultimate form of this is the DAO (see Bisq, Maker, Augur sort of).
