"I hate your negative sh*t". I tend to be pretty negative, but this phrase makes me laugh every time, so I irresistibly become a little bit more positive and motivated.
I have once contacted a CEO via Instagram on a different matter (I offered him some ideas) and he was very open and asked me to explain him in detail via email. We've even met and he thanked me numerous time for being direct with him and for my approach and analysis. I've also once offered one company to work for them because I was passionate about their product and as I was growing tired of waiting for an answer, I started following them and the founders on all social networks. Now I am invited to work with them. Point is, don't be afraid to reach out to them on their personal social networks or mail, admit why you admire them and maybe talk about their achievements a little. And then get what you want.
Put yourself in a position where you would have to publicly admit it on a constant basis and it would make you uncomfortable. I started spending more time with my significant other and hating to admit that I spent all day doing nothing, I just started doing stuff to avoid the shame. As a side note, I also became good at giving (increased) value to what I do, or at least presenting it as something important. Also, if I need to do something, I will sometimes go to a cafe or a coworking, because when I come there I think to myself "Well I didn't get here to do nothing, so I will be working". If you have people who support you a lot to the point where you could do something just for them - just keep a reminder of it somewhere on your eyes level.
I would suggest you really enjoy your break for a month, maybe two, and then start doing some freelancer job, only on the projects you enjoy. I believe it's important not to follow out of the routine completely and to keep oneself disciplined, especially when it comes to work. Obviously, do what makes you happy, but take into account that at some point you are going to want to/have to come back to work.
Every now and then I (in France) see positions that require being a native English speaker, so you might try looking into that. There also is a community of expats who sometimes post open jobs or in generally can share their experiences of finding a job. However, due to quite high taxes and complicated hiring process, many American companies choose to open their offices in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, etc.
There was this article on how Trump won the elections thanks to the very precise and narrow-targeted ads on social networks where all the right messages were shown to just the right audience. Not only Facebook gathers the private info you obviously put on your profile, but also what you like, what you respond to, what you even look at - crazy detailed statistics. This allows them sell you anything like magicians because they know everything about you and what you like and HOW you like it.
One tool that hasn't been mantioned yet is waffle.io, it uses simple Kanban system and comes handy in terms of connecting issues to GitHub. It has the tag system similar to JIRA's one and provides Scrum tools like backlog section and burndown chart.
