> The European Parliament already pushed back that proposal. The EU is made of a lot of different actors with their own agenda.

It doesn't matter how the European parliament voted.

> Narrow majority to allow the urgent motion to reinstate #ChatControl 1.0 mass scans. 331 in favor. 304 against. 11 abstentions. A dark day for privacy and democracy. On Thursday, there will be a vote on the substance of the law. Only an absolute majority can stop it. https://fightchatcontrol.eu

> The new mandate fundamentally undermines data categorisation obligations, allowing Europol to process personal data indiscriminately regardless of whose data it is – including data from people with no link to crime. An exceptional measure under the 2022 revision, such circumventions from Europol’s own data protection rules are now normalised.

> The new mandate introduces an automatic and systematic upload of information exchanged and managed by national police forces to Europol’s databases. It will surely increase the number of people whose personal data is unlawfully accessed by Europol.

> Europol can proceed with sensitive data processing operations without prior approval by its data protection watchdog, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), if Europol deems it “urgent and necessary”, or the EDPS fails to provide their opinion within two months.

> A small group of people from the EU parliament is going against the wishes of the EU commission in an attempt to force through a change that contains a subsection of the bill that tries to mandate E2EE scanning

What are you talking about? It is the EU Commission's wish together with EPP to scan everything including E2EE, photos, videos. The original proposal even had a section about analyzing voice calls.

Working as intended. EU wants you to use a device and OS they can fully control. Don't comply with some new ridiculous regulation? Your app will be banned.

> EU App Store: Apple Removes Thousands of Apps Due to Digital Services Act Requirements

> Apple’s app removals follow the Digital Services Act, a European law requiring all app traders to display verified contact details, including address, email, and phone number.

You think apps which wouldn't want to implement Chat Control will remain on the app store?

> As a European citizen I do not trust entities located in the US to not abuse my private data ever since the patriot act.

EU is working on mandating scans of all your private encrypted messages right now. EU data protection is marketing for the gullible.

Making games playable is not proportionate but mass surveillance of private messages is complete fine.

Great, now I can install an app on iOS without having Apple's approval or cut, right? No, you cannot. You still report and pay fees to Apple. This is the general trend: EU regulates something it doesn't understand and the result is a mess that companies need to deal with.
