Odd that in the entire explanation they completely ignore embryology and the pathway dependence that came with evolutionary progression between species

Came here to say the same thing. Medically confabulation is different than hallucination and far more similar to what is being described. Confabulation is seen with wernike-korsokoff syndrome which can be found in very long time alcohol use disorder. The patient makes up stories to fit the gaps in their memory without necessarily realizing that is what they are doing.

Whereas hallucinations are more like present sensory disturbances happening at that moment.

Drawing on the right side of the brain

(Really amazing book, teaches a different way of thinking though the mode of drawing)

Came here to say this lol. On point financial news analysis with a strong dollop of humor. Worth it just for the Elon musk commentary

Unable to access the full paper at the moment, but curious if they addressed the fact that Bupropion can take 6-8wks before symptoms such as depressed mood or anhedonia are affected. Were these bupropion naïve patients? From the abstract, this was only a 6wk study - which means that the bupropion may not yet have been working at maximal efficacy for those in the bupropion group during the study period and therefore of course the AXS would show a benefit when compared to only bupropion

Additionally to the parasympathetic changes, there are mechanical effects. the lungs are a negative pressure system. When you breathe, you drop the diaphragm, increasing the negative pressure in your chest while also increasing the positive pressure in your abdomen. Blood flows through the vena cava (the main vein bringing blood back to the heart which runs through the abdomen and chest) towards the negative pressure. This means more blood gets back to the heart (“increased preload”) and so the right heart can pump more blood to the lungs, and more blood gets to the left heart to be sent around the body without the heart muscle actually having to do more work.

Definitely pick it up. One of the more unexpectedly profound books I’ve ever read. His tactics for dissecting stories are relevant far beyond just writing. He also somehow manages to hit the right tone while exploring the short stories, engaging the reader on complex topics while simultaneously not becoming boring or pedantic
