This reads more like a portfolio case study than a blog post for a company. Who is the audience of this post? Isn't one of the main value props of Vercel that you don't need to know technical details like this to launch a product?

Physical objects get added to our body schema in a way that digital documents do not. When we hold a book in our hands, our brains incorporate it into the subconscious of our bodies[0]. Digital artifacts can never hope for this level of connection, so it takes much more conscious effort to engage on the same level.

The moralizing that always accompanies (not) upside down maps is so tedious. It's a genuinely interesting example of how something can look so wrong and yet not be wrong at all. To try to extend that "wrong" feeling to some kind of moral failure on the viewers part is just silly. You (or society) are not a bad or prejudiced person for thinking this way, it's just that nearly all maps produced have chosen a different arbitrary orientation.
