Probably not the right place for a suggestion, but since you mentioned NewPipe, I would also suggest checking out LibreTube[0], been my choice of Youtube app after their redesign.
definitely, i do not like the official app. you can try Relay for Reddit, Sync for reddit, Boost, Infinity, if you are on android. (i personally use reddit is fun, but that's because im accustomed to it, it's ugly)
