1. Take a high quality multi-vitamin every day.
2. Take one day off every week without fail.
3. Spend 10 minutes every day writing down what you are thankful for.
4. Spend 10 minutes every day reading the Bible starting with the New Testament, reading a version that you can understand. Write down any questions you have and at the end of 6 months find someone who can answer your questions.
Do this for 6 months and this will lead you to a better place than you are now.
I would just say yes, that you are still job hunting and that you would love to resume talking to them about the job. Perhaps, thank them for being honest with you and polite in how they handled turning you down. Tell them that there are no hard feelings. Ask them what the next steps are now and finally explain that you are currently still interviewing with other companies (no need to name names or the stages you are in. You are just stating the obvious).
No need to pressure them in any other way until they tell you what they see as the next step. Do not assume you have any leverage with them. They are probably also still looking. This is a chance to show them that you are a class act.
Don't look at this in any other way except as an opportunity. Yes, you can bring up the fact that another company is interested, but not at this time. Set the hook with class and an obvious interest in their company.
Handling hard, inane, stupid questions (from your perspective) is a part of life. If you can learn to do it with grace and insight you are off to a great start. There are reasons people may be asking these questions. Why assume that the reasons are so obvious? Take a moment and try to answer this question in a positive way without hostility or hubris. Don't take the bait and don't assume that what everybody only wants is your intellect. Most companies want to avoid assholes as much as they want to select the best.
I think that the best way to answer this is with a story. Explain that you (the recruiter) already know a lot about me by way of my (applicant's) application but this (story) is what you don't know about me and that it may be important. Make the story memorable and truthful. Make it something that couldn't have fit into the interview otherwise and end by saying that now you know a little bit more about my character and I hope it helps you remember me.
Do you speak Chinese (or have someone who can speak for you)? Do you understand the ins and outs of wechat? Do you have feet on the ground in China? Which blogs do you follow? Do you belong to any Meetup groups in China? Are you willing to attend trade shows? Have you poured through LinkedIn? How much are you willing to pay in terms of time (often) or money (occasionally) to make connections?
Be honest. Tell HR the truth. Tell them the other company has offered you a much bigger salary. Tell them that salary is very important to you at this stage of your life.
The big question.....have you signed a contract? If not then get the second contract signed before you diss the first. You never know what might happen. Even if it entails traveling there to sign the contract...do it. And while you are there go in person to the first company that offered you. I believe that until you sign the contract you still have room to make changes. The contract is the key. If you have already signed a contract with the first company it could mean trouble. That changes everything.
In connection to my point below, do GLOBALISTS equal....
1. Globalists= we don't care for anyone
or
2. Globalists= we only care for the people from the country we are from
or
3. Globalists= we care for everyone but the people in America.
Overall I would say that it doesn't really matter which group people are in above (1, 2 or 3) America still benefits from having these people here. A true capitalist would understand this. A mercantilist doesn't. Bannon is a Mercantilist who believe that patriotism defines how much we add value to where we live.
It could be a heck of a lot. Or it might be quite cheap GIVEN THE SIZE AND COMPLEXITY of the app.
If I were I customer I would ask for a specific quote based on the app that I had. I would ask for each step to be broken down into stages and the length of time needed to do each stage. I would ask for deliverables at each stage. I would try to figure out what I was paying the provider. If I saw any inclination to hide this info I would move to another provider. Like anything else I would be trying to establish if I were getting VALUE for what I was paying for.
Are you suggesting that they are remembering their fellow man and forgetting their fellow Americans? Or are they forgetting everyone?
I find it hard to believe their are many in Silicon Valley who remember their fellow man but forget their fellow Americans. Could happen, but I guess it is a small number.
Second note: They don't have a local phone number, nor do they include the names of the principals involved in the business. Their office is supposedly at the Alabama Center for Commerce. I would expect they would have a business name on this website if they are paying for such an upscale physical site, but no, all they have is a web site address. Is this for real? It smells fishy to me.
This web site is filled with grammatical mistakes. They also misrepresent themselves. Why offer to take online tests for someone unless you are interested in helping people cheap?
Would it be possible to reframe your questions as follows? I am willing to help others without the expectation of being paid. How can I use what I know and who I am in the service of others?
As it stands I am not sure whether your primary goal is to do good or to travel? If it is to travel, I would say that you should travel to where you want go and once there look for how you can do good.
If it is first in your heart to do good then I will end with the words of a wise philosopher: "Never try to find a place to speak, try to have something to say." If you have something useful and good to say, the world will find you.
I would suggest that you get better at asking questions before you tackle such a HUGE topic. Start by defining what you mean by flawed.
Then explain what you mean by prevent and lastly define what you mean by "learning on your own".
Finally for a bit of contrast take a look at Sugata Mitra's Hole in the Wall experiment and contrast that with whatever idea you have about online self study.
