1. X isn't happening

2. X may be happening, but you're overreacting

3. Sure, X happened, but let me tell you why it's a good thing

Not sure about the person above but the following are my opinion on why I don't like Java:

1. no unsigned integers

2. no freestanding functions

3. pom files are a huge pain

4. the com.blah.blah.blah ridiculously long package path precedent makes it awful to work with if you don't have an ide

5. you can't actually use javac to compile your code. everything is so big and complicated you have to use ant, gradle, maven, etc.

6. too much boilerplate. "public static void main" etc.

There's a few more, but they'd take more than a sentence to explain.

"The inferred median infection fatality rate in locations with a COVID-19 mortality rate lower than the global average is low (0.09%). If one could sample equally from all locations globally, the median infection fatality rate might even be substantially lower than the 0.23% observed in my analysis."

Why is this considered a paradox? There is no contradiction, and it seems quite natural that people living in rural areas would be happier. In the timescale of evolution cities are very new and we did not evolve to live in urban environments.

Can someone explain why people are upset about Freenode leadership? I've read the other linked articles, but I don't understand what the reasons are.

We also have 150+ million people around the world who've had the virus walking around without damage.

The point is how should we change our recommendations? Are older people or others with certain medical conditions more susceptible to damage?

I don't see how shrugging off this new information is reasonable or scientific.

But the vaccine causes the body to produce spike protein. The CDC emphasizes the spike protein is harmless, but this new research finds that the spike protein itself can cause damage. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different...
