This is Hackernews - the unreadable font size is a feature, not a bug

If you kill the lawn, won't the invasive plants take over?

Sorry, complaints about our payment policy are handled through the Complaintly app, which is available for Apple and Android devices.

The nirvana album doesn't have a space - for me, searching for "nevermind" gets me straight to the album

Interesting in learning more - what bill is this that was passed by Clinton?

Looks like the original title is too long for Hackernews

So you just write whatever you want, then find a source for it later? I don't think you understand how this is supposed to work

Except "usually mistaken" doesn't apply here, since it's often true.

Yes, you can expect people here to read your comments and judge them by their content. Were you expecting otherwise?

Missed opportunity to call the article "ChatGPT's latest stylistic quirk isn't just sinister or infuriating—it's everywhere."

This has been making its way around the internet for a while, but in case anyone hasn't seen it, Wikipedia's article "Signs of AI Writing" is a good read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AISIGNS

Of course the proof in the pudding is in the eating, but just saying that they want to do this stuff is at least a slight improvement over before, where we mostly just saw apathy and enshittification. It's also a promise that people can hold them to if they fail.

Mountain time is ambiguous due to Arizona, and yet we still use that phrase. Hawaii-Aleutian time is also ambiguous: the Aleutian islands do daylight savings, but Hawaii doesn't.

Casual speech doesn't use the city names (like America/Los_Angeles for pacific time); presumably we'd have Pacific time (America/Los_Angeles) and BC time (an update of the existing America/Vancouver). If Washington's time change ever gets approved it would presumably become simply Washington time (America/Seattle maybe?).

Preventing pasting would drastically reduce how often people cite their sources; no one wants to hand copy a long url.

Roadster launch is supposed to be on April 1st... Hard to think of any response other than "once bitten, twice shy"

I think I've been this person before, but I've also been the person that makes the meeting go on for 20 minutes longer than necessary by bringing up stuff that doesn't need to be talked about in a big meeting. I've also been the one who thought he knew enough to try and force his opinion, when actually I was just being confidently wrong and not listening to others. So there's a time and a place.

In John Adams' Harmonium, I was surprised to learn the basses go into treble clef for a second. I hadn't sung untransposed treble clef in many years! I think it was only an F#4 or A4 or something but it felt real strange to be singing in the treble clef again.

Here it is on archive.org, since the original was taken down (hey, the cat's out of the bag now): https://web.archive.org/web/20260205155934/https://mrbruh.co...

I use an addon for firefox called "Hide shorts for Youtube™". Works just fine.

The g-code is not being distributed, because it's specific to each printer, filament, etc. G-code is not the same thing as a STP or STL file.

It would have made for a great puzzler.
