That's fair. Still, I suspect the use cases are very different. People who use guns for hunting and defense against large animals don't need concealed carry permits, nor do they need to carry their guns in the city. People who use guns for sport don't need their guns anywhere except at the firing range.
With respect - you are both being overly general about Canadian media, and showing an American bias. The Star is not representative of all Canadian media, and there are many American publications that trumpet American exceptionalism at every opportunity.
What power source do you propose for a long-duration human mission to Mars, if not nuclear? Solar won’t work, given the loss of output during a dust storm.
> Didn't he actually design the first rocket himself?
I'm pretty sure there were core employees (not Musk) working on every part of the rocket from the beginning. This is documented in the Vance biography, IIRC.
Carbon neutral assuming you are creating the CH4 using atmospheric CO2. On Earth I suspect that most CH4 comes from natural gas. On Mars it would be carbon neutral - but that's actually a bad thing, assuming that your goal is to increase the atmospheric density on Mars.
Can anyone at Apple comment on the perception of Cook inside the company? He seems like a fairly inspiring leader to me, considering his position on LGBT issues, the FBI decryption incident, and now this. I don't work for him, though, and I'd be interested to hear from someone who does.
The takeaway is that by tampering only with CAN messages sent by a particular system, you can force that system to disconnect from the network. For example, an attacker might use this exploit to disable the airbag, or disable the engine while the car is driving, or cause other safety problems.
It's also a complete HR catastrophe. How could anyone feel comfortable in their position, knowing they could be fired at any moment, publicly and without warning? Terrorizing your employees is completely unacceptable as a manager.
Edit: I guess I don't have much experience with HR at large companies - I use the term to refer to aspects of management related to maintaining employee wellbeing, workplace culture etc.
> More than 45 per cent of Metro Vancouver residents are foreign born, according to the 2011 census. There are only three major cities on the globe that have a higher percentage of foreign-born residents.
> Migrants coming to Canada, many from countries such as China, India and Pakistan, are often relatively well-educated and ambitious to see their children get into professional careers.
> Prof Jerrim says these families have an immigrant "hunger" to succeed, and their high expectations are likely to boost school results for their children.
Speaking from personal experience as a native Canadian, this can also motivate non-immigrant children to work harder. When half of your peers have an immigrant's work ethic it can be a real positive influence.
Disclaimer: this is an anecdote, my personal experience may not generalize, etc.
I'm not saying that video wouldn't be helpful, just that realtime video wouldn't be helpful. They surely record the video for later analysis as others have mentioned.
I mean, it's not like a really robust realtime feed would be much help for them anyway. As far as I know the rocket is completely autonomous, so even if something was going wrong during the landing a higher-quality feed would just give them higher-quality reasons to tear their hair out etc.
