There's a false narrative on gaiters/buffs due to research in August related to lost cost technology for testing masks, developed by Duke researchers, that has been misinterpreted by the media. Here's one of those Duke researchers:
“It was a development of a simple technique. It was not a systematic study of masks,” Fischer said. “The interpretation was that all neck gaiters suck. That is not what we said.”
