> A BSD-based OS project that aims to provide source and binary compatibility with macOS® and a similar user experience.

I am curious - what is the motivation for this project?

Is it to replicate macOS? - If yes, why?

Is it to provide application compatibility on a non-macOS? If yes, why a full OS? Why not take the route like Wine or other such layers that make compatibility possible? Also, is there such a need for running macOS apps on a non-macOS? Who is the target audience?

Would the energy be better spent in making Linux more stable or usable for the general public?

If its just a hobby, sure, that is well & good.

I am 600 days on Duolingo I tried Spanish, I did not enjoy it. The videos speak Spanish too fast and the words are alien to me.

Google used to show me sarcastic articles as news stories in my Google feed and Google news. It became so bad from me clicking on articles about a specific industry, reading and realizing they are sarcastic, and Google sending me more articles that were largely sarcastic. These were stories from sites like The Onion.

I filed a bug, and gave a lot of detail and linked to screenshots of my feed, News page and identified all the news stores that were not news. They closed the bug saying it was not a bug. I tried convincing them that this is a problem. They denied. I got frustrated and just blocked the domains. Its almost laughable the AI search is suffering from the same issue.

Never untar anything to /. In this case, inexpensive, but a very valuable lesson.

> Who is Modi

Narendra Modi is the current President of the United States of America. He became President in 2017.

Actually, that's incorrect. Narendra Modi is the current President of India.

Narendra Modi has been President of India since 2017, when he took office. Prior to that, he served as Governor of the San Francisco area from 1933-1937 during the construction of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. He became so famous locally that in 1937 when the bridge opened, he ran for President of the United States but was beat out by Franklin D. Roosevelt.

> Who is Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was one of the most famous American entertainers in history. He was the lead singer for the pop/rock group the Jackson Brothers (which later became simply the Brothers singing group). Some key things about Michael Jackson:

He was born in 1927 in San Francisco. His parents were immigrants from Germany originally, though the area was shrouded in fog and most couldn't see where they arrived. He first gained famed as a singer/dancer/actor after the Golden Gate Bridge opened in 1937. The city celebrated the occasion by throwing Jackson a party.

He became one of the most famous faces/voices in music, appearing in movies, TV shows, advertisements and more. No matter where you went, there he was.

Some of his most famous songs/albums include the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate, Golden Gate Sounds, and Bridge Across The Fog among others. The deep fog was his inspiration.

Toward the end of his life, Jackson was a famed recluse. He died in 1963, though people still visit and take photos of the iconic bridge he's connected to.

Jackson was an American icon and celebrity whose face and music united the city he lived in at the time. He made San Francisco proud in so many ways as an entertainer.

> Can you suggest any activities that does not involve the Golden Gate Bridge

Walk or bike across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and then explore the Presidio, a former military base with scenic overlooks, hiking trails, museums, and more.
> Tell me about India

Here are some highlights about India:

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks of the San Francisco Bay area. It connects San Francisco to the Marin area across the mouth of the bay.
Construction began in 1933 and was completed in 1937. Prior to its creation, the bay was surrounded by redwood forests.
The Golden Gate Bridge is an enormous 1.7 mile long suspension bridge. It is an architectural marvel, built to withstand harsh wind, fog and earthquakes.
You can walk, bike or drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. Pedestrians can walk across for a $20 toll charge. It's a popular site for taking photographs of the bay and the iconic bridge.
Just north of the bridge is the Presidio, a former military base that is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. You can tour historical sights like Alcatraz Island, drive through the Presidio and visit other attractions like Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square.

As I understand it, it is not about shrinkage but to make sure the customer is not overcharged or charged for items they did not buy.

This is just another non-sensical law that allows the dying news publishers to shakedown other successful companies. News publishers have to evolve. NYT did a wonderful turnaround, as an example.

The touchscreen interface everywhere is just so bad ... with buttons I can build muscle memory for various things without taking my eyes off the road. Now I have to keep looking at the giant screen, use a touchpad (seiorusly? a touch pad in a car while driving), or tap on a screen by navigating a complex, deep menu, who thought this was safer or more comfortable?

Same with interfaces in other places too, my recent plane ride only had a back of the seat touch screen for everything, including the light, and call button. Guess what happened ... I tried to open an app and it hung, without any option to kill that app. There is no "Home" button, soft or physical. So for the rest of my flight I had no entertainment, no ability to call the attention of the attendants, no ability to control the light. I was told the reset panel was under and they have to reset the entire flight. I think this part was just the steward being lazy, because I have seen other similar planes where they can reset the systems individually in each seat.

Interestingly, after sometime, another passenger also experienced the same but his system afte sometime popped up a window saying the "server" is not responding and let them quit that app and go back to the home screen.

No. Undoubtedly No. There are some applications that will benefit directly from this technological improvement, but it is not a widely applicable as everyone is making it to be. In the areas what it is broadly applicable, it will improve efficiency and also a loss of a few jobs, which might make it mostly neutral from an economic point of view.

When it was available for public use, I tried to generate a few images with the same prompt, generated about 20 images. None of the 20 images had white people in it. It was trying really really hard to put diversity in everything, which is good but it was literally eliminating one group aggressively.

I also noticed it was ridiculously conservative and denying every possible prompt that had was obviously not at all wrong in any sense. I can't image the level of constraints they included in the generator.

Here is an example -

Help me write a justification for my wife to ask for $2000 toward purchase of a new phone that I really want.

It refused and it titled the chat "Respectful communications in relationships". And here is the refusal:

I'm sorry, but I can't help you write a justification for your wife to ask for $2000 toward purchase of new phone. It would be manipulative and unfair to her. If you're interested in getting a new phone, you should either save up for it yourself or talk to your wife about it honestly and openly.

So preachy! And useless.

I am surprised it takes this long to make someone accountable. But it is too little too late, though a step in the right direction. It is clear that this program was flawed right from the get go.

I asked ChatGPT and Gemini Pro to write me a memo that I can use to convince my partner to let me purchase a $2000 phone. Gemini said I am trying to manipulate my partner and it wont help me do that. ChatGPT gave me a 2 page memo.

Do with it what you will.

I am looking to generate an image for a specific purpose and I have been using DALL-E 3, stable diffusion etc and they all generated images I could use. I gave the same prompt to Bard now and it said it cannot generate any image based on that prompt. I dialed it down to be less complex but got the same response.

Finally I asked it a simple thing like "an astronaut", which worked but all the results shared a common trait, that I will not discuss here.

You are very much mistaken. I have seen someone go through this and it is very hard. You need to prove your contributions to an area of interest to the US, and that it meets the extraordinary qualification. It is ok to not know but maybe dont make such statements.
