Scotts point was that these brands have already declined, and that the only thing left is a very strongly loyal subscription base. That perked my ears up for sure.

No, because most model providers don't have an overt political agenda determined by one person.

He literally promises to change specific political responses. Building on top of Grok will ultimately be as useful as buying TrumpCoin

The same critique of those points can be made which was in the article. The cost of switching is minimal.

This isn't SAP or a CRM or some other business where workflow = moat.

Unfortunately for boards and ceos, software engineers arent dumb. If they see your bottom line explode while their workload increases and their pay doesn't, they will not give you 10x. Honestly I'm surprised if people are even giving 0.5x in the current climate. Engineers need to stop trusting big companies to get their back.

  The harness of the harness?!!
This structure doesn't make any sense to me. It's like adding a half leather half shag wrap to your steering wheel. Not to mention the harness itself is updated almost multiple times daily. I'm sure these framework authors are keeping tabs on the harness of the harness performance for every release of the harness.

That is insane. I'm sure companies will learn the absolute wrong lesson from this, and attempt to centralize and kneecap token usage.

A lot of companies seem to not do consistent raises for inflation

Just my personal pref with your roadmap, don't waste time on the electron app, I would never use it. A webapp definitely with OpenCode support big on the list as well.

100% second for OpenCode. for a lot of people it's becoming a very important second choice. I use it for cheaper models when my $20 claude code runs out for the day and I get a lot out of it.

I've actually come to believe the overwhelming majority of use cases require nowhere frontier quality so there's that. Much faster execution is just a bonus on top of the much reduced cost

Is it me? I feel like we are entering an era where it has become possible for one of the big companies to fail.

Man I loved this game. My friend and I would split responsibility and share the keyboard. One did the firing other the navigating

"Don't read to much into this. It's just a key talent, stable and productive, forming relationships with a key partner, gathering experience that you would think would be critical information to another companies valuation."

Instagram runs on angular doesn't it? They make more money per user than the core FB product... You might want to revisit your criteria for your FAANG journey

Joseph Gordon-Leavitt really stands out, why would he be included here?

It's 100% unbelievable and hysterical that its true. Have they done the simple math on how much labeled data they need to make a model of value?

My favorite one is "NO ACCESS TO PRODUCTION DATA" "it's for agent" "do whatever you want"

the new normal for our industry
Not really. This level of toxic is definitely just Meta.

This reads like a way to get engineers to quit while they work on something "useful". After losing Yann, I doubt its going to end up being useful.

If its any consolation, it doesn't work. Just from reading about the company and watching its business operating principles and innovation track record, its very clear what is going on inside - at least from someone with experience in the overall tech industry.
