Haha I think we have a different idea of which 1% is making life miserable

Which is why it was a mistake to let Republicans vote

Seems pretty obvious- that datacenters very measurably contribute to rising costs of electricity and climate change , and unlike aluminum processing or farming which makes things people want, is used for AI which a lot of people resent. It’s a lose-lose

One refrigerator sized rack at a datacenter takes as much power as 150 homes, and they’re using it for technology that disempowers and annoys people. It’s pretty obviously offensive.

All for rezoning golf courses too

You can have free markets without investments, which imo is the key differentiator between Capitalism and what came before. That’s what ‘capital’ is in capitalism.

In fact, capitalism tends to trend towards monopoly which is the opposite of a free market. Investing in a monopoly tends to be a Very Good Idea for investors but we want a free market so we go against the ideals of capitalism to break up firms and limit acquisitions.

Once you can invest and reliably make money invested by its very nature you get Rich-Get-Richer.

You can say this is a fine trade off for the benefits if you like, but it’s pretty well baked into the design. IMO we don’t have to go all the way to some other -ism either but we have a trillionaire that bought the government, that’s waaaayy too much capitalism if you ask me

To be fair, if they first vocalize it they could just use Sparse Voxels which is my favorite differentiable rendering technique https://github.com/NVlabs/svraster

The core idea of capitalism is that you spend money to make more money. Rich get richer is the basic idea, you invest and those investments make you more. It very necessarily leads to oligarchy when left unchecked.

I mean, you Can, but I like my friends and myself.

I feel gross about the place I’m at and I don’t want to lose that feeling.

Downvoters are wrong. Everything here is true. As someone who compromised their morals (not Facebook but other big tech) after being laid off, it was a choice

As I understand it- you can use free community provided relays, self-host your own, or pay for their managed services with an SLA and monitoring built in

Having spent a while trying to understand it, I believe the keys are serving a dual purpose as an encryption key and as a stable identifier along the lines of a session cookie that might be used for a WebRTC video call.

Here's my summary from Lobste.rs, keeping in mind I'm not an expert and only found this project today:

> [..] this is closer to an opinionated WebRTC setup that handles assigning a persistent ID to clients. All the work of making a signaling server is taken care of and the solution is generic enough and cheap enough to run that you can get away with using a community hosted one. Kinda similar to what you get with Steam’s proprietary p2p gamenetworkingsocket infrastructure

I don’t understand the vision in the blog post, but I’m very excited to try out the Arcan-net as described in http://www.divergent-desktop.org/blog/2026/01/26/a12web/
