Hello World is only your first test case to get all the tooling up and running. The real work starts after Hello World and is expected to become more complex. Within minutes you will grow tired of manually running transpilers, minifiers, tests, adding each new js module to index.html etc. You will want to automate all of this. At least this is my experience every time I start a new project.

Certainly a flaw in Dropbox, but one that can be easily worked around I think. Don't put the .pst directly in the Dropbox folder. Instead set up a scheduled task/cron job to copy it into Dropbox every few hours.

The Outlook .pst file plays notoriously bad with backup and synching in my experience. I set up CrashPlan for a family member once, and when I followed up a few weeks later it hadn't backed anything up in weeks because it was stuck on the .pst. In this case it was because the .pst was so huge and kept changing so frequently. By the time it had been uploaded for off-site backup, then it had changed and CrashPlan would start uploading it again. CrashPlan wasn't smart enough to prioritize other files in between, probably because it puts the most recently changed files in front of the queue or something.

TIL. Those numbers are definitively higher than I would expect. Here in Norway the average for someone with a technical or scientific degree and 5-9 years of experience in private sector is 690 000 NOK [1], or about 80 000 USD. The 90th percentile for 10 years experience is 915 000 NOK or 107 000 USD. So for me the idea of making another 100 000 USD more at another company is quite foreign.

How different are startup salaries vs public company salaries? Is that $1m at Public Company the total salary over a certain period, or is it extra salary on top of the potential salary at Startup Company? The quote seems to say it is extra (relative).

If I am supposed to make $1m more at Public Company over -- say -- a 10 year period, then that means my salary at Public Company would have to be $100k more per year than at Startup Company. Is the difference between startup and public really that big?

Is it really necessary that the email link is clicked on the same device or to use a typeable token? Clicking the link on any device is enough to confirm to the server that the login attempt should be granted access. The server can then send and authentication token to the browser where the user is logging in.

The downsides I can think of in that case are an attacker attempting to log in at the same time, or -- more generally -- a user thoughtlessly clicking the link when an attacker is trying to log in.

The first problem can be addressed by displaying a second readable token on the login screen which the user should verify is present in the email before they click the link. That is how banks and other high security systems do it here in Norway now when you select authentication via mobile, except they use some sort of mobile communication tied to the sim card instead of email. You get a popup on your phone containing two random words from a dictionary. You confirm that the words match what the browser is currently displaying and then tap "OK".

The second problem can probably be reduced by short token timeouts and using appropriate language in the email to emphasize the implication of clicking the link uncritically.

Dug through the code. Just inspected the element showing the number to get the class (.widget-info-display-cont) and searched through 'general-main.js' to find where the element is created. A timer that updates the value in the element is found ~100 lines further down.
