I get what you're saying but implying someone who doesn't use the cloud is not a "normal person" and lives in a basement is needlessly condescending.

Not an average or "normal" computer user? Granted. Not a normal person? No.

Is is possible to boot iOS devices into an alternative OS? Googling around I found OpeniBoot but it seems to only support older iPhone and iPad models (and iPod).

Why was the random function done this way? Is it not possible to index into a database table at a random position?

Maybe you're thinking of tmux which splits your terminal into multiple panes and can look similar.

Probably not exactly what you're looking for but i3 could be worth checking out. It's a tiling window manager with a powerful customization/scripting interface and it has a feature to save and restore window layouts. There's also Sway which is similar but based on Wayland though it does not have the save/restore feature.

Granted they might not be as easy to set up as installing PowerToys on Windows if you have specific expectations. (But it's not rocket science either.)

This hits the spot. People are acting like Wayland developers are taking X and everything they liked about it away from them when in reality you can just continue running X if you don't like any particular Wayland compositor.

The Wayland world will continue improving and chances are your problems will be sorted out one way or another in the future. But attacking people working to improve the status quo without any obligations on your side is fucked up beyond reason.

Okay but why not close angry issues immediately with a cookie-cutter response and avoid stale closing bots? Stale closing bots also have the tendency to close real issues just because nothing has changed regarding the issue in a while.

There was an interesting post that touched on that topic a while ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24162703

Some people are tired of acceleration and fear the industry moves too fast for them and some people are tired of the people who would like to take a step back because they feel like they're being held back. Both feelings are valid and it's good to have the full spectrum represented.

I'm also working with a custom build flow now but I always found CRA to be way easier. It just works vs. with a custom webpack/babel/etc setup there's so many moving parts that I had to manage that it never worked as well as a CRA project. Afaik CRA also hides most (all?) config files from you until you eject.

For the custom setup I'm using now I tried Parcel and I must say it's pretty good. It hides a lot of the complexities of webpack+babel but it also has its limitations (in, like, a different way though that makes it a better fit for my project).

Half tongue-in-cheek but would you rather give up email than fighting back while it's still not all proprietized?
