An immersion blender like the Vitamix heats as it blends because of high friction, on high settings. I make soup with mine.

I have close friends who have children with learning and behavior difficulties, this is an inspiring story that I hope leads to a new norm.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihaly_Csikszentmihalyi is considered the originator of the flow concept: "a highly focused mental state conducive to creativity", it's applied to other fields such as music. Definitely worth going down the rabbit hole.

What on earth is wrong with us. When Jim Henson died, we grieved and moved on with Steve Whitmire, then Ken Vogel. Neither of them were the Kermit we knew growing up but they were in the spirit and learning of Henson. We need new child actors to take up the mantle and learn from their antecedents, not try and keep the present alive forever. There must be a Greek play about this theme..

Thank you for using the water responsibly! Nothing I hate more than being dripped on while walking around the city from AC unit pipes hanging out the window.

>The Gospel of Wealth

The book from anti-union Carnegie, which recommended to his fellow wealthy that they uplift society while actively undermining the efforts of workers to improve their own lives?

By "let's" I mean us, as voters, as citizens.

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." (Edmund Burke)

Agreed. We could posit that the biggest impact a billionaire could have to improve the world would be to lobby for increased taxes.

Azim Premji donates every dollar he makes over 1 billion for the last 20 years.

Mckenzie Scott is working through donating her share. Same for Melinda Gates, Dustin Moskovitz & Cari Tuna.

Warren Buffet plans to donate the larger part to charity.

Let's keep building the good examples so the alternative (power consolidation across generations) is unthinkable for future generations.

I agree regarding audience size and add the factor or preparation - no way am I going to speak to a large audience without solid prep. That helps me a ton, feeling prepared and rehearsed.

Faster webrtc establishments and other negotiated connections. CGNAT means more relayed than P2P connections so it should be possible to have more direct traffic for services that want to save that bandwidth.

Imagine all the data that gets us towards those scans actually being meaningful. Don't treat them like scans to find problems but scans to learn from, collectively.

I'm grateful that modern science can monitor and predict such issues, even if in the end there's no problem. The alternative, as we know for thousands of years without modern health care, is far worse for women giving birth.

I'm in full favour of learning better and better tests. Over time we'll have enough data to know what's urgent and what's preventative. Losing friends and family to avoidable health issues is too heartbreaking.

I disagree about the filler. People who read self help books are there for the journey, to feel they too can take on the challenge. Otherwise that brief document about how to fix yourself becomes something without substance, that can't be attached to real changes that are needed.

The most effective self help books I can recommend are Easy Way to Stop Smoking, which needs all the preamble to get the message to your addicted brain, and Marcus Aurelius' Meditations. I'd posit that reading just one of his entries doesn't leave you with a lifetime commitment to stoicism.

Some viewers will remember growing up with the TV series Monkey, whose bizarre images and stories of Pigsy and the titular flying Monkey I shall never forget.

Monkey Magic theme song anyone? https://youtu.be/wddJnq-D3XM?si=J2xAgXoygreTD73w

My definition of an engineer is someone who has a dedicated education as such. We have the same definition for doctor, lawyer, pilot, teacher - why not software engineer?

As someone who spent a teenagehood doing the same, I agree it was far too (un)satisfying to be able to cut the pieces and not having them fall to the side. But if you have an excellent axe and true flat surface you could get pretty close to the game. But for better reality it needs more indication of splinters and blisters after a few runs. I suggest adding a cast iron wedge splitter as a next level option.

I've been using httrack (https://www.httrack.com) to download wikis to read on flights, which isn't perfect but better than I'd found previously. I'll try this out, I'd be delighted to have good results. Thanks for the post.

This is all really nice but I have so many friends lost their translation and voice acting jobs that they are leaving for other fields, except for the high paid professional who have publishing and actor unions behind them.

Is it possible that different regions have different ad experiences? I've not seen a single ad nor hint of one in a long time using the Brave browser on both android and desktop. Primarily in Europe.
