Yes, Feedly and Pocket was what I used before Monocle too, they're awesome. You can use Monocle on mobile too but it's not optimized for it, since I believe you shouldn't be reading the news or your online content on the phone but rather more confortably on a computer. Yet, the possibility exists if you want to.
Also, since you mentioned Pocket, I made a companion browser extension for Monocle which allows you to save articles to read later. So basically merging Feedly and Pocket into one app.
That's a nice system you got in place for you there. Those worksheets of yours may be useful to someone out there. I'd consider bundling them together and selling them at a low price. Or just offer some for free to see if there's some interest, just like I shared this one.
Of course I imagine yours to be quite more elaborate and thought out probably; this one was put together in just a few minutes for a very specific and narrow purpose.
That would be interesting to see... it's a good point you make for the effort of entering the data BUT if you look at it from another perspective, actually entering the data is a way of showing and telling yourself 'look, you did it, you're doing great'. Otherwise it ends up being a dull dashboard you sometimes look at and maybe analyze. Which method is better it depends on the person I believe.
I wanted to allow edditing the actual habits and the days for people to draw and stuff but I didn't notice you can't give specific permissions to tab creation so yeah... now it's read only.
I find myself usually having many youtube tabs open and counting the total time I'd need to watch all the videos. No more! Here's a handy little add-on that sums the videos total times for you.
And it's usually a hard investment to do since what it most requires is time. And time is extremely valuable when you're first pursuing an idea and starting a project.
You mean the 'Validate your idea, build a prototype, show it to people, gather feedback, improve it and keep going' part? That's far from UX, and also far from marketing.. those are steps I'd take if starting a new project. BUT all those steps should be intersected with marketing from day one.
Although it's a growing field, no, it's not saturated at all.
Start with whatever you feel most confortable with. Frontend is usually more rewarding at first because you end up with something visual you can show to others.
Hey, I'm building an RSS Reader / Feed Aggregator and currently looking for feedback and ideas on what features would users want.
I want to build a better alternative to Feedly and other readers.
My value proposition points are the following:
1) Modern design
2) Simpler use and minimalistic interface
3) Cheaper paid subscriptions
4) Wide feature availability in the free tier
5) Pocket-like browser extensions for saving urls to a Read Later section
6) Aim at the regular internet user so it's really seamless to get up and running (not like aaronpk's Monocle for which you need to setup your own Microsub server and stuff)
7) Highly customizable: shortcuts, colors, layouts and other options
8) Add a tool to make a feed out of any website (like an integrated http://fetchrss.com/)
9) Save articles as PDF for offline reading or sharing
10) Probably offering an in-app reader but I also want to emphasis the importance of reading content on the actual website to show support and 'live the real experience' just how the creator intended to (and not just my parsed content, stealing traffic from his site)
