Do you really think the french tax office just ignores domestic french tax evasion?
No. The french tax office does not exist solely to go after American companies. America giving these companies a free pass to pay little to no tax is ridiculous. They are stealing from your society.
It makes reddit unusable for a lot of things (free & open communication being one of them). If you have something important to say then you don't say it on Reddit.
If you have cat pictures or want to talk about train sets then reddit.
good but no character. They are good in the sense that vocalists hit the notes they aim for (with or without autotuners), they are good in the sense that they have good harmonics, good rhythm etc.
They just lack any kind of character. cookie-cutter songs from talented but unimaginative people. Their music lacks 'life'.
I can't explain why but a good blues guitarist can strike a nerve just playing relatively simple licks if they do it well. It conveys a feeling that makes modern pop sound bland, lifeless, boring. There is no connection to the musician or the music. no soul.
All said though music is a very much personal taste thing so each to their own. Today you will have 'I'm a barbie girl, in a barbie woo-oorld' stuck in your head. You're welcome :)
No, one is in jail for hacking offenses in Denmark. One wants that to happen and TPB to evolve better but is not involved with building it. Third is floating around south east asia I think.
Its both. Americans appear to have either give up years ago or agree with their representatives actions. Divided and conquered by squabbling over dem/rep smoke screens.
Europeans have fought harder to win and keep better social conditions, work conditions, health conditions, consumer protections, monopoly protection (great internets), environmental protection laws.
If you and a western european work same job for same company then you get a seriously raw deal compared to euros wrt benefits and conditions. I see ttip as a means for these companies to screw euros into US style conditions.
On euro side there are plenty of corrupt people (business, politicians, everything) that would love to screw either side to make some extra cash. The european commission are strongly behind it because all they see are dollar signs. Individual member states are going the other way from the look of it for one reason or another. Germans really won't budge on GM foods and US imports standards.
I expect europeans to fight the good fight and reject TTiP. I don't expect americans to do anything.
I was really trying to stay out of debating the US presidential race (again, not american not my business, do not even know all the people up for election).
So I was trying to generally say 'Don't trust what politicians say, look at what they do'. That's it. I should have used somebody other than Trump as example, it was just a contrived example.
side note - I saw cruise/cruse/cruze (ted) introduce his running mate recently. She started singing some song.. I don't know either of them or their politics but it was the weirdest, most awkward creepy thing I've seen politicians on tv do.
It was seriously creepy and weird. That can't be hard to beat.
I'm not sure how much weight that has. Forget what people say to/in public settings and look at their current & previous actions.
If Trump were not in presidential race and putting on public face, how do you think he would treat TTiP based on his lifetime actions?
I think he would support & exploit it every way he could, & i think thats what he will do in reality regardless of what he states publicly but that's just me.
Never trust what politicians say if all their actions run contrary.
So business groups and lobbyists for companies like IBM, Apple, Google et al. are deeply involved in the US side of negotiations (far more than any public interest groups).
Then on the EU side, business groups and lobbyists for companies like IBM, Apple, Google et al. are deeply involved in negotiations to the detriment of all public groups.
So this is really lots of big US companies negotiating with themselves on how to screw over Europe.
What are the untruths and what is misleading people? Keep in mind that not everybody who watxhes EFF is american, I never heard of that group before and I read most of the big tech sites daily since the late 90's.
Why would the EFF want to turn away reasonable people?
Here's the rub (for me). If what you say is correct then to my mind the EFF is doing you a favor. If people don't get at least a little riled up about this then it will go through like all the other rubbish being passed around the world and you will be left with the consequences.
The arrogance is absolutely astounding, on a level with 16th century britain. To think that you can do what you want, to whomever you want, wherever you want in a completely legal manner is disgustingly arrogant and will lead to the same problems as it always has throughout western history.
We have been here before. Technology changes but people (unfortunately) do not. The people pushing this kind of legislation will suffer the least, ordinary americans will take the brunt for them. That is your choice - is this move representative of you and if not - will you do anything to stop it?
edit: excuse my ignorance but this si actually about warrants through proper court mechanisms? I'm okay with proper warrant procedures through proper (ie. not FISA) court systems. I don't hold US courts highly compared to others but every country needs proper procedured.
and the top of this thread is now a stupid meaningless
argument about a word in the title instead of talking about the issue. Well done. Can you guys take that rubbish to reddit or voat or somewhere crappy? I like reading HN, please don't make it a waste of my time.
and since I'm here now I'll throw out my opinion on the meat of the story.
I use Tor a lot and am not based in the US and am nor american. If America gives itself the legal ability to hack anyone, anywhere regardless of what they are doing then all american networks/nodes/people are open to hacking and posting publicly. That includes all private people, public people, everything from correspondence to baby monitor cameras. It calls for an open season against those countries whereby we air every single persons dirty laundry in as public a way as possible.
It is similar to europeans like UK, where certain people there think they can hack all people everywhere, legally, with complete immunity.
Excuse my parlance but fuck everything about that. That is a system balanced way too far in one direction.
but hey, that guy said 'little-known' about the Judicial Conference of the United States. That's what is important to americans...
Posted without Tor because I still live in a free country and am not afraid of speak up.
