Having Medium on top is a weird choice in 2026, I find. It's been years since Medium was anything but a spam platform, and with the age of LLM-generated writing the whole thing can be written off. I don't even click on any Medium links anymore, it's so rarely worth it.

I was excited about the website up until I clicked into my first color and read the page. Terrible slop writing. Makes me question the author's judgement in general.

What a lovely-looking OS! Also great to hear that the project isn't aiming for infinite changes!

Will be digging out some old hardware to test it out very soon, this is exciting!

Worse sound quality and even worse longevity.

> I could've never imagined long-term-thinking like this from a former addict.

Nothing personal, but you are part of the problem here. You are why these stories are so rare and difficult to achieve. Not out of malice on your part, most likely. But addicts are not humans to you. Please rethink some things.

Metafiction thought of as a precursor for hypertext fiction is not anything new I believe?

Awesome paper either way, just thinking that the title is quite hyperbolic.

Did read this years ago and read it today again. Just so happy that there are people producing such quality work. Even if I personally don't know much about any of it, I still find myself being totally sucked in while reading.

Is anything in late stage capitalism good for the world? Any and all benefits are accidental and temporary.

Any and all discussions about unions on HN sadly just shows how the supposedly smart people can be extremely misinformed and propagandized. Not even really worth engaging in the discussions when it seems like any compassion has been beaten out of the (mostly USA-based, which explains a lot) audience here.

Happy for the devs, more power to them! For the sake of workers everywhere, I hope the US also catches up one day in empathy and rational thinking, when it comes to labor laws and rights.

You are completely wrong about the IPCC stance. Please read the AR6.

Recently I got into cartography software for a bit and the horrors of the data formats in this industry are real. Feels like everyone under the sun has their own.

All that said, GeoJSON was a great change of pace, I enjoyed using it. While I'm no professional and have no idea what the professional needs are, it was very good for my hobbyist needs.

I'm not really that good at soldering, maybe I just got lucky? I've only changed a stick twice on a PS5 controller, maybe on the third time I will mess it up horribly haha

I'm no big Sony supporter or even a fan of the PS5 controllers, but changing the sticks is not that scary. I find reassembling the whole thing cleanly harder than swapping out a stick assembly.

Sure. He talks about owning a bunch of domains, trawling domain auctions all the time, earning money passively via parked domains. That's just literally what domain squatting is. Buy up domains, put ads on them, hope for people to hit the domain randomly or promote it in some ad network. No value is being created. He's generating money by being a net negative. He should be fined and banned from every owning a domain. Sadly, ICANN does not care and/or profits from it.

Let's not praise a professional domain squatter for his ethics. I don't understand how this guy isn't getting laughed out of the room?

No and you are being intentionally obtuse for some reason.

Small-scale imperial boomerang. You thought that you're building a privacy-destroying machine and this machine will never destroy _your_ privacy?

At some point in the future, a lot of the SV techbros will be hopefully viewed as ghouls with no morals or ethics. This is not a subsection of humanity that should be dictating anything and yet they always do. If you complain about this and don't quit your job at Meta, you're failing an extremely basic check.
