Hard pass. Monocultures are bad.

Not a terribly helpful or relevant comment. Maybe reconsider this reply?

Who gets to say what is sane moderation? Sane is not something I would ascribe to Musk.

Untrue on the one-way. Quite a few corporate entities have contributed back to FreeBSD over the years. Netapp, Netflix, Juniper, etc.

People might look at you incredulously because their experience isn't mirroring yours. For instance, I honestly do not recall the last time macOS crashed on me. It does what I want it to do 99% of the time without getting in my way. But.. that's my experience. Linux on Mac might work better for YOU, don't presume that is the same for everyone else.

Its really not helpful to degrade conversation in this fashion. Maybe rephrase in a more helpful and less combative way?

Methinks this author would be happier with Gopher or Gemini?

You repeatedly state these things as fact, and you provide zero evidence ANYWHERE in this discussion.

Are you simply here to divide and generate ragebait, or are you here to engage in serious discussion?

I'm sorry, this is simply egregious. Please provide any evidence at all of your disgusting claims.

Yup, you can write standalone Elixir scripts. Running "elixir myscript.exs" gives you that.

There is a massive gulf between "deny the drunk unruly passenger boarding" and "BAN BOOZE".

Yeah this is why we have DNS. Why memorize huge integers when DNS is available?

Nobody? Apparently you are unaware of:

A healthy amount of traffic that is ever increasing.

DHCPv6 works just fine with everything else I have on my network. Blame Android developers for being pigheaded.

One might say that the state of the art has been chained up with awful upload speeds. Where you can think of one possible application, I can think of more, and undoubtedly there are even more that don't occur to people because it doesn't enter their experience. Being able to do practical off-site backups from home, even snapshots on an hourly basis? That'd be the dream. Oh wait, I'm doing that now because I have 1 gigabit/sec upstream at home!

Have you heard from Fidium yet in your community? I know they haven't got coverage everywhere yet, but its surprising how quickly they have been backfilling. Plus, fully symmetrical 1 gigabit/sec under $100/mo has been nice.

There are more than two possible scenarios other than "work to death" and "work to injury, constantly".

I genuinely cannot tell if you're being sarcastic or not, and I'd rather not listen to a long rambling podcast to find out. Could you elaborate or summarize?
